@ssh you might want to make it clear that you're asking about the stuck door problem?

Maybe add mileage? Mine had a hiccup once where it didn't want to open, but did not fail. Nov 23 build, 10k miles.

My car always prompts me while I'm driving that my charging door is open, I look in the side mirror and it's definitely closed. That's the only problem I've noticed regarding the charging door so often.

It's not rare either, it's pretty frequent.

I’m not sure how to do that… how would the questions look?
Updated… thanks, @tonyquan!

I guess something like "failed to open, but I was eventually able to open w/o dealer repair"?

Ok. I added one…

Right. That would have to be a separate poll. Of the people who have had failures, at what mileage did it fail? If that even matters.

Wanted to understand mileage for several reasons. It could have been an indicator for number of cycles (open/close) connected to the failure, rather than asking people to estimate how many times they have opened it.

For those that have experienced it, have temporary solutions worked out while waiting for parts? If so, what worked? I'd rather not be without my car for 17 days (worst case).
Does anybody know if the problem with it is:

1. It unlocks but the plunger part does not work anymore?

or

2. It won't unlock?
Is the charging door the same component as the fuel cap door in the ICE variant? Surely we'd have heard about it from regular 4 series owners that this is a common issue.

My understanding is the former as it seems to be happening even when the lock function has been disabled.

ahhh, OK - I was hoping maybe it was just that it would not unlock.

Because, then, you could probably just modify the actual piece that turns to lock to just never lock which would be fine by me.

If it's a plunger issue, I don't think you could just get rid of the mechanism as the door will just flop open and closed I think.
I know that the poll is still young, but the responses so far make it seem less prevalent than I was expecting.

“I charged my car today and I had no problem with the charge port door at all, again.”
Not very exciting for anyone to post this every time they plug in. 🤗

Our door failed to open once about a month into ownership but hasn't since.
Post your build dates and mileage if you've had a failure.

There are already existing threads about what’s happening… The purpose of this thread is to see how many people are experiencing it… That’s all.
