I am ordering the edrive 40 with the Msport and dynamic handling packages (among other things).

I had asked for the 19" aero wheels (860M) and the dealer's order bank configurator allowed only the light alloy 859M.

Tire Wheel Vehicle Car Automotive tire

I have read an article that the light alloys promote range by being lighter, and also handle better due to lightness, though they can be damaged easier.

Comparing with the aeros, is the range difference significant between going lighter vs less turbulent?

Would I be compromising the handling package by getting the aeros?

Thanks for input.

I've been wondering the same thing. In Canada the 860M is the standard wheel offering on the M50 and the 859M is a $500 upgrade. I prefer the looks of the 859M over the 860M but I can't find any information on the difference in performance.

Good point @gsbaker.
The Aero-wheels supposedly could add a few Km to the range of e40-non-M. Being aerodynamic and all.
Just checked the (Greek) configurator it goes like this:
  • 852/17" 588 Km
  • 853/18" 576 Km
  • Aero/19 578 Km
  • 862/20" 546 Km
So, it might be a small gain...

It is only available with the M-package and it is 573 Km!

Also 856 has 574 Km the 862 20" has 545.
There is been issue about the 859 in the Greek configurator. There are 2 (!!) 859 with different ranges. That's why I multi-edited this post.

Very nice!

I ordered the Msport package and got those wheels. I think they are light for the handling.

So only 3 km less than aero. Very worth the tradeoff.

I love the look of the 19” Aero alloys so I’m so glad they’re available exclusively for the eDrive40.

Along with the blue accents on the car these alloys make it obviously stand out as an electric car over the standard petrol/diesel 4 series, which is exactly what I love about it. Sure the range is a plus too.

They look so futuristic and the exclusivity makes them rarer.
