Am I the only Belgian sucker with a 40? :ROFLMAO:

Had to choose between a fully loaded 40 or a less loaded M50 as company car.
Thought 340hp would be enough for now, but I seem to be the only one :p

You´re right, the price difference wasn´t that big.

I currently drive a 306hp car. For daily commuting there is more than plenty of power left. Only rarely using 100% of the power. Next the 40 should give some extra range. Both finally convinced to go for the 40.

My heart said m50, my mind seemed to have won the battle. But now I do struggle again :p

Today I got a call from the dealer that the production of my e40 (for the moment) is planned during wk 21. Delivery during wk 23 🤩🤞

I ordered it 21/11.

The new date is 6 months earlier than the initial date.
A case of underpromise & overdeliver?
I may have missed it, but in what configuration did you order the car?

Thanks for your reference and nice configuration.
Seems you were smarter than me and skipped the options that might slowen delivery, such as HK, adaptive suspension, laser lights, etc...

I just grabbed them like a child in a toy store :geek:

Mine did not, maybe because I ordered before Q3 2021 and the shortages were not known yet.

Enjoy the holidays and a happy 2022 including a brand new car for most people :D

Nothing. Even after 6 months BMW is not able to provide a time line for my car.

Feels amateuristic

How did you configure your i4 edrive40? I ordered mine in August (laser lights, HUD, Park assistant plus) and still don't have a date. I don't understand how BMW processes the order queue, but I would really love to have a date after 6 months of waiting :(
Same here. Ordered in August, rough ETA received being April 2023 for an eDrive40.

I think both Germany and Belgium suffer from the popularity of the brand. For both countries every 100000 inhabitants more than 320 BMW´s were sold in 2021. To put in perspective, this is less than a third or around 100 per 100000 inhabitants in the Netherlands.

Wait what? Ordered August, delivery 2023? Mine was ordered in BE in August and i got a rough delivery of 25/04/2022 ....
That rough delivery date is not binding. Please don't be surprised when you hear again from your dealer.

Which dealer?

The dealer won´t make a lot of difference. They all got a lot of i4 orders I suppose.

No, after a certain period it will get annoying and have another effect.

Me neighter.

Did that once, never again. If you want to test a vehicle, just book a time slot at the dealer.

Such instructed drives mainly take the fun out of it. Most tips are hugely related to efficiency gains and to not press the throttle pedal more than 2 millimeters.

The only instructed drives I did like is a slip course.

If you don't need the AWD, which I assume that you don't in Belgium, I think that the 40 will be more than enough. There are also the advantages of longer range and RWD. Up north, where I am at, the AWD makes a big difference a large part of the year.
At some highways in the French speaking part of Belgium you might be better off with an SUV or offroader because of the potholes and poor road conditions, but further you´re right ;)

I´m wondering how BMW will deal with the price increase on ordered vehicles.

If I now quote my vehicle, the price is more than 10k higher than on my order. More than half are fleet discounts and cannot be removed. The 2 price increases from November and May on the other hand could be forwarded to the buyer? Some documents seem to give BMW the right to charge price increases on undelivered orders.

Even heard of this?

My car is at the dealer. Ordered in August 2021, eDrive40 in Skyscraper Grey.
All options are on the car, including the discussed ones such as driving assist professional, HK-audio, variable sport steering, adaptive suspension M, lumbar support driver,...

Pick up in 2 weeks.

Daeninck in St Martens Latem.

The waiting period is my choice to get some things done with my current car.
If I wanted, I was driving it by this weekend.

Hopefully you get the same news as I did. Mine was planned for 2023 too, but I´m already driving my new car for a couple of days.

Ordered in August 2021.
Edrive40 with plenty of options including some options potentially delaying delivery such as driving assist professional, Harman Kardon, head up, laser lights,...

The only item that has been adapted is removal of the touch functionality on the iDrive button.

Can confirm even the e40 is plenty fast.

whereas Belgium gets less than 2%
Not that weird as Belgium population only counts for 1,5% of the world population. The 40% share for the US is indeed a bit more weird.

He said that those who already drive around in an i4, edrive40, or M50, in Belgium are very, very lucky people !!!
Luckily the fossil fueled 4 GC looks the same, helping not feeling too lonely.

Really hope you all join me as soon as possible.

Driving for more or less a month in my i4 now, Barely seen other i4's on the road. Only 1 without Z-plates.

To be honest I'm not sure if the car is worth waiting 2 years for it. It's a good car, but so was my previous C300de.
  • The infotainment is like an iPad. MBUX is better and more intuitive. Does feel like iDrive 8 is a step back against iDrive 7 while MBUX was an improvement.
  • I don't like the fact Android Auto cannot connect by USB, only wireless, resulting in a hot smartphone in these summer temperatures and battery drain.
  • The turning circle is way too big for such kind of car. One of its biggest disadvantages.
  • No place to put your keys? Mercedes has a special place for it in the front storage area. Same for the foldable crate Mercedes has under the trunk floor.
  • The B-pillar is blocking the view more than anticipated. Already missed out some people on bikes, luckily without accident.
