Bimmercode for i4 - steps followed coding first time

Those are from beemercode link. I install this to see what's is happening. When I try to change codes with bimmercode and even tho the app said that everything went OK, non of my new setting worked. For example, soft blinker from 3 binks to 5 or walk up light to on just at night. Every time after coding was done, my display screen was showing flashing pictures from side mirrors.
  • The 5 times blinker needs to be configured in Vehicle Apps > Exterior Lighting settings after coding was done.
  • I never tried the walk up light to on just at night, no comment there

Lastly, sometimes when iDrive is rebooted you can see flashing pictures from side mirrors while it loads, they go away as soon as the control unit fully loads.

I don't think that's directly related.
The article is speaking in very broad terms without any specifics, I would categorize it a step above clickbait at best (not saying there isn’t any truth there).

There’s no connection between locked ECU’s and the alleged vulnerable APIs the article is alluding to.

BMW will likely join Mercedes and others and prevent any possible “coding” in the future. Unfortunately, we’ll be stuck with the iDrive warning screen when and if that happens.

I didn’t see it in this thread, I may have missed it, but does anyone know what variables to change in expert mode to allow access to the keyboard while not in park? Thanks!
I'm able to access the keyboard while not in park. I'm not sure why you can't. When the wheel comes up there's an option to tap to get the keyboard up. Am I missing something?

I mean in apps like CarPlay and Google maps as well. There is something we should be able to turn off that tells the car that we aren’t moving or increase the speed that it allows that access. Someone in another thread mentioned they did it, but I can’t remember who or where and searching ended up looking like a search for a needle in a haystack.
Ah ok, nevermind, I don't use those. In BMW nav you have no issues with this.

I emailed BimmerUtility support about this. Here is their response:-

“Hello, yes this is due to BMW changing to a secure coding platform that cars can only be coded that are connected to their cloud servers. We don't have a time frame on when it will be accessible.”

😢
Bimmercode configured this information also. No coding on iDrive 8.5 vehicles.

What bluetooth device are you using? From what I read, the device used can affect what displays. I had one when I first got bimmercode that didn't show everything. I picked up the Bimmercode recommended CX and it displays on mine after the 07/2023 update that I just ran. View attachment 37482
I’m using the OBDLINK MX+ bluetooth adapter. A few users reports not having the confirmation tone option post 07/2023 upgrade. I see you have the Android app, that could be what’s different, I’m using the iPhone Bimmercode app.

If comfort plus is enabled under the comfort menu (enabling as an option for eco pro individual is separate), it can also be toggled by pressing of the comfort button again, just like eco pro and eco pro individual.
I'm interested in this as well.

Can you run configure Comfort+ Steering/Suspension in Sport Individual?

I've been driving in comfort+ now for a couple of months and I do notice a difference. Mostly in the ride. It's feels smoother than comfort. I also coded "xtraboost" not sure what it does but there is a difference between it and sport boost. View attachment 44225

What is the difference between Sport Boost and XTRA boost? Length of boost ? Any 0-60 difference? Does it go above 400kW power draw?

So I went for a drive and launched in xtraboost and sport boost with the wife. There is a noticable difference in xtraboost. Even the wife said not to do xtraboost again. I need to somehow gather the data you are wanting. Any recommendations?
A Dragy GPS but if you don’t have one already I wouldn’t buy one just for this. The power used you get from the live vehicle app, see if it goes above 400kW. If it’s more abrupt than Sport Boost does the feature come with chiropractor adjustments ?

Just got a 2025 i4 fresh off the delivery boat. When I go into BDC controller in Bimmercode I don’t see any option to disable the startup warnings. I see a bunch of other stuff.

Does this need an update on Bimmercode’s side or am I doing something stupid?
Can’t do it in iDrive 8.5 vehicles. Headunit ECU is not available for coding, and that’s the ECU you disable this, not BDC.

Stinks. Thanks for answering, I’ll cross my fingers that changes as time goes by.
There’s close to a 0 chance you’ll be able to ever do this even in the future. Some have mentioned there is a possibility in the future but they are mistaken.

I’ve explored the option, you need FDL coding to disable the warnings, VO coding only is and will likely only be the available option for HU: https://www.i4talk.com/threads/idrive-8-5-securecode-2-0-modules-now-can-be-coded.13422/

Automatic Lane Change Assistant coding requires access to headunit ECU which is not available in iDrive 8.5 vehicles with Bimmercode.

Also, for iDrive 8.0 vehicles, Bimmercode 4.4 will have this part of the standard coding options so expert mode will no longer be required.
