Glad that you’ve reached a conclusion that you’re happy with.

V2L Hyundai limited to 3.6kW though, I really meant V2H with min 6kW ideally, or something like this soon? 🤔
Thanks for the help!

Seems like with a 7.5kw wallbox it shouldnt be that hard to do V2H at that level 🤷‍♂️. If you have a battery ready inverter due to solar PV maybe even send DC to the house and let the home inverter do it rather than onboard?

For those who maybe aren’t aware and are with Octopus Energy (any tariff so long as you’ve a smart meter), an Octopus Home Mini is available to order free-of-charge.

Basically it is a wifi connected, electrical plug in device takes real-time data from your smart meter, making it available in the Octopus app wherever you are. Live usage, graphs for daily, weekly, monthly, annual, etc which is so much easier to view and navigate wherever you are compared to the In-Home-Display. I received mine within 2 weeks of ordering (back in September). Meet the Octopus Home Mini
Just bumping this up in case anyone missed it due to the solar diversion 😃.

British Gas smart meter system & IHD updates every 10 seconds - when it works of course which for many it doesn’t as BG broke it.

Octopus every 10 secs too being the smart meter standard, which is ok. If it was true real-time, 50Hz would be incomprehensible of course 🙈! But enabling to see it on your phone away from home is a plus. Gas smart meter update frequency every 30 mins!

I'm also having problems between octopus app and my bmw app. I have it set to charge 11.30-6 and I manually plug it in at 11.30 as I noticed it wasnt charging at the set times if I plugged it in earlier. The 2 apps seem to be overriding each other and I often wake up only to see charge paused on the app and maybe a 25/30% charge. It's all very confusing and worrying. I've been told to delete the octopus app and just use charge immediately and plug in at chosen times. I'm going to give that a try and see if I have any luck.

HI Jamietaylor532 & welcome.

The Octopus integration seems to work well.
What Charger do you have?
If it is OHMN then Octopus should integrate directly with the charger.
For any other charger (like my pod point), the charger should be set to manual not smart.
Car should be set to charge immediately - no schedule, let the Octopus app do that.
Did your Octopus app complete a test charge with the car? - this seems to be the key thing and sometimes requires multiple attempts to complete. Once successful you should be good to set the charge limit and be ready for time (80-90% & 04:00 onwards). Set the same charge limit in the car.

It works flawlessly for me, just need to get that test charge sorted then it should just work.

Octopus currently installing mine, getting a WallBox Plus so it connects to HomeAssistant. Will report back on success/issues

Took a couple of tries to get it working,
updated WallBox firmware
On first try the BMW app seem to have the random schedule as above
Tried second time and all worked a treat

First actual charge tonight (I hope)

Octopus app did its thing and decided a schedule, BUT I had to tell the WallBox app to manually charge. This maybe because my WallBox had lost connection to WIFI, or it may have been another issue.
BMW app seemed to set itself correctly
Octopus set a aperture time in the future in the app
Octopus set a schedule in octopus app
Then has to tell WallBox to chage

It did seem to use the cheaper rate, the Octopus app has not updated to £ rather than KW

I had to set the car to charge based on location as it reset itself

I wont need to charge again until next week, so see what happens.

I have BMW APP, Octopus and WallBox all connected to Home assistant

Could have been that WallBox had dropped off the WiFi. I see that people who have Ohme chargers have to set them to manual
Think the car GPS had it’s location slightly off, I made sure it was all set last night

Yes, if you are using the car as the Octopus ’My Device‘, then the wall charger must be on continuous dumb/manual/free vend. I’ve seen an analogy where the wall charger is a garden tap, the charge cable is the garden hose, the car is a trigger spray gun and water is the current flow. The tap must always be on and water will only flow when the spray gun is trigger is pressed. If the tap is off, no water flows no matter what you do with the spray gun.

Good analogy

Got home tonight with all WIFI connections working:
Plugged-in, WallBox detected and started passing Juice
BMW starts charging
Octopus Decided a schedule
All started charging
Got the pause message from WallBox and BMW as Octopus was scheduling
All looks good an Juice is flowing

Good news. If you missed some of my earlier posts in this thread - after plugging in the i4, I use the My BMW app to stop the charging as soon as the (refreshed) option to stop the charge is available. This stops drawing peak rate kWh whilst Octopus decides a schedule (have seen it to take over 20 minutes). Thereafter the schedule and charging proceeds as normal anyhow. If you have doubts, try it during a time when you don‘t absolutely need a charge the next day.

Hi all, car delivered today am however having issues setting up the ohme home pro charger/car/io...

II have plugged the car in, downloaded the ohme app, gone to the octopus app, followed the link to io and followed the instructions (chose car, chose charger, hit 'connect' logged in to BMW when it asked) once connected hit test test charge and the little octopus flies around my phone screen for a while until it says it cannot complete the test charge. I've tried this a number of times but no luck? The car is set to charge to 100% and immediate charging and is at 72% currently.

I have never tried it through the octopus app, always done direct through the OHME app. Always seems to work as planned, although have had a few instances of the car changing from "charge immediately" to "charge in time slot" of it's own accord even though the OHME app is supposed to override the car.
