The BMW i4 is confirmed to arrive sometime around 2020.
First previewed by the BMW i Vision Dynamics Concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, our digital artists have come up with a render that gives us a good idea on what the production BMW i4 could look like when it arrives. As a four-door sedan, the BMW i4 will take aim at the
Tesla Model S, with the goal of offering a range between 340 to 435 miles.
The BMW i4 render is largely based on the i Vision Dynamics Concept, but with more realistic mirrors and wheels, along with a blacked-out center grille, just like the existing BMW i3 and i8 models.
BMW promises the i4 will represent the next generation of its electric vehicles, powered by the fifth-generation eDrive system. Speaking to
Auto Express earlier this year, BMW i’s Robert Irlinger said the production model will closely resemble the i Vision Dynamics Concept. So don’t expect the overall styling and design to change significantly.
When it does arrive, look for it to use lithium-ion battery cells while riding on a new common architecture that BMW is currently developing. The new architecture will underpin various gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles.
