Bjorn also confirms that the i4 embargo lifts on the 13th. Gotta kill two more weeks I guess 🤷‍♂️

The infotainment system is looking a lot worse from what I expected from these reviews. The startup sound was really good! Not sure why it's like that now.

Any particular issues you see with the infotainment system ? I think it looks good and it really depends on which reviewer you see, because not all of them know how to use the system or what it is capable of.

For example Bjørn dosent seem to know the system at all. But Carwow and Autogefül gives it a much better test

It was really laggy when Bjorn zoomed out on the map. Not sure if there's any other parts that will be laggy.

As I remember it, Bjørn turned on the Driving Assistant Professional, and then tried to navigate the map to test how well it run. My assumption is, that the driving assistant takes lots of system resources and therefore the map becomes more laggy. If you drive the car yourself, I have not seen any other videos where the map lags as much as in his video.

I will feed in a discussion started in another thread!

All that subsystems are very useful, and believe me I am very tech savvy and I like them all .
My issue is that I don't thing that, most of them, had mature enough.
These are rather new technologies and we all are Beta-testers! (maybe even Alpha)

For example in the 1st video @9:25 we learn about a system that sound an alarm when you reach a Stop sign too quickly.
Well... here some Stop signs in Greece.
How you like them apples?

Plant Light Motor vehicle Hood Line

Plant Stop sign Branch Twig Natural landscape

Plant Natural environment Branch Sky Vegetation

And I don't expect that even in better situations than the tragic ones I posted the system will be useful.
Also you hear a <beep><beep> HOW do you know which one of all the alarms is it?
Maybe your smartphone is 100% charged.

In the 2nd [email protected]:50 The car has to be locked to see the inside ...remotely?
Oh, OK! I will alert the thieves to close the doors before they steal anything from inside the car.

Also waiiiit to cooooontact BMW seeeeervers.
So the tech is there but not very useful. Not mature enough.
And of course you pay extra for all these gimmicks not to mention that the servers, when they wake up, will store all these snapshots to the end of times.

Hah, I think the day we see self-driving in Greece we will also have colonized mars.

Thing is, Bette quality equipment isn’t selling that many cars anymore, gone are the days where nicer materials, more tactile buttons and slightly better engines away the masses to upgrading to a new brand or newer model. It’s all electronic functions today. IX is the car for the guy who wants to have all the latest tech, in a space shuttle of a car engineered brilliantly. I think it’s marketed towards wealthy eco-friendly suburban families 35-45 of technologically advanced countries. I think the i3 was a great car and I think the iX will be as well, but it’s not for me.

I want an electric car that drives like a car and feels like a car, and makes me in charge of feeling the suspension, wheels and engine torque rather than having the feeling of digital abstraction layers helping me to do what I want. I realize that is no longer possible in a new car, so I hope i4 will stay true to the formula in its own way.

:p Honestly it was a little bit difficult to find these photos, which I'm guessing are also very old.
Greece actually has some of the best (also because are new) roads in Europe.

My point wasn't to ...bash Greece, which I obviously love, but to point out "simple" situations that the A.I. of modern cars can't handle.
An A.I. can tell you that this animal is a dog, but it may have serious problem if the dog is partially hidden behind an object. Something that even a 2 y.o. can understand.

The point is how much reliable are these systems and how much annoying.
In another thread we talked about BMW's assisted view (which seems inferior of that of Tesla) if it is useful and if you can depend on it OR it would just steal seconds from your attention.

Navigation is extremely useful and it has been 20 years since I first used Route 66 in a Symbian phone with a bluetooth GPS! I really love navigation systems, even without a destination, just driving around, exploring new places.
A system that says to me that "I came too fast" to a Stop sign I think is pointless. Not to mention what I wrote. That with all these systems you hear a beeping sound and you might not know what it is!

Wow, nice roads!! I’ve only experienced Greece during vacation, and those places had very bad roads, but that looks fancy. I take it back 😁
I get your point though, any system that you can’t rely on 100% is just a nuisance, because you are obligated to pay attention at all times anyway.

I've seen this video in the beginning of the year
The guy who designed X5 talks about the design of iX.
Some interesting observations for the Connaisseurs!

Just watched a review of the iX on Inside EVs that raised an issue I had not thought of before. You cannot open the hood of the iX. Simply can't be done. What are the ramifications? You can't get at the 12V battery when it needs to be replaced. Has to go to the dealer because only the dealer has the secret tool to open the hood. Hello, tow truck. My question is this: what's the deal with the i4? You can open the hood, but can you gain access to the 12V battery without the dealer's secret tool?
While looking at the reviews of the iX, I keep looking for things that apply to the i4 as well.

One thing that made my day was that Tesla Bjørn, who I think was positive towards the iX, said in one of the videos; "I like the i4 better" :)

Good video. He also has another on the new 4 coupe and he’s very critic also.

- Heeelp! My car doesn't let me go out!
《sigh》
Enough with all that gimmicky things. For every reason you may think that's a good "system" I could think 10 scenarios that it's not.

Head of BMW Efficient Dynamics (whatever that is) talks in German with English subtitles in an iX about...well...BMW Efficient Dynamics.

[Edit] Actually it says a few interesting things about Cx and aerodynamics.

Maybe the 12v battery for ix is in the cargo area like other BMWs.
