Connected drive theft notifications with recent update

Last friday, my car was in for the 2 yr service. There was also a drive system software recall and I requested the plug and charge upgrade. I believe the idrive was updated too (07/2025.45 now)

When I started off after service, the vehicle asked if I wanted to activate connected drive theft notifications. This was not a service previously offered, but I have seen it is available for the ix. I declined at that time, with the intent to investigate to see the cost and capabilities. Now, when I search for the feature, it is no where to be found. BMW instructions show this as a check box in the drive recorder app, but my software has no such option. It is not in connected drive services for a fee either.

Anyone have knowledge of this capability in the i4? I clearly remember the notification and noted the specific wording to find it later (connected drive theft notifications).

Another annoyance with the latest idrive update, from the widgets on the home screen, I can no longer show vehicle status, such as efficiency since the last charge. I guess on the plus side, I get the word search style clock the newer cars have. 🤷‍♂️

While BMW's FAQ shows the availability, and a video showing how to activate it within Drive Recorder, it wouldn't surprise one bit that the check box option is not there.

As I suspected, none of the options shown in BMW's instruction video are present in my settings, and according to them, this should apply to iDrive 8 and up.

I also had the vehicle status widget disappear after a service appointment, but it re-appeared and I was able to add it back to my active widgets. I both rebooted iDrive and waited about a day, so I'm not sure which was ultimately the fix, or if it was both. Worth a shot.

And is there a more useless widget than that weird clock? Does anyone actually use it? "I'd love to see what time it is, but really would like to have it formatted in a much more confusing and less useful way, please," said no one ever. How did that make the cut?

It's a terrible clock. It looks ok on a table clock, not in a car LOL

I did the OTA update sat in a supermarket car park. I didn't get any notification in the car but when the update was finished, I drove off and the car alarm started! I turned the car off and on again once I realised it was me and it's been fine since. But, when I checked my phone later I had a notification that the alarm had been activated. I haven't looked in the settings because I'm happy to have this switched-on. I don't have Drive Recorder active, either.
