Has anyone considered or installed Solar Roof to charge their EV?

I have been researching a lot about Solar PV (rooftop) and actually reviewed some 15 or so offers from many suppliers. I have locked in on one company and expect to install a 15kw system over next few months. Idea is to be Net Zero and I just revised the sizing to include an EV. I used the i4 as my EV and assumed about 10-12k miles/yr at about 36kwh/100 miles. I think that gave me about 330kwh/month to recharge the car at home, which is where I expect 90% of the time it will be charged.

I've got two nearby neighbors that have Teslas (one actually has 3!) and they also have Solar Roofs, so I assume they are doing very similar to what I am planning.

Has anyone else actually done this exercise and if so how did you estimate and calculate the amount of Solar PV you would need?

I’m under the impression that if you call enphase, you’ll get a different response. The install is supposed to be done a specific way.
Ooh. A unit change!
Just crossed over 1 mWh produced yesterday.
35 days?

wow, that's great. I expect only 8 of them a year, at least I think so. All inspections done, Should have solar on any day now.

As of a few minutes ago I finally have consumption data! It was actually installed yesterday by Lumio, but when I got to work, I noticed the data was way off. This morning I popped open the breaker box and found the two CTs were reversed. CT1 needs to be on the same pole as the Enphase system to track properly. When reversed, it will show your production data from the panels and think that same amount is also coming from the grid. Consumption will show as double...really strange.

Im waiting for my consumption data to kick in. I was turned on yesterday as well. THey said 24-48 hours.
Mine was instant. Wrong data, but the app updated immediately.

Ohh, I think I misread. Your whole system was turned on!? If so, congrats! I received my email from Enphase to sign up for the app a little over 24 hours after the switch was flipped.

Just charged the i4 from 39% to 80% earlier today, and as of 4pm, I'm back to net export territory for the day with 2-3 hours of production to go.

my biggest production day so far was 53 kwh and that was yesterday. Was sunny for most of the day. got the car charged and still had 2kwh credit with the electric company. So far I have 127kwh banked with them for a rainy day. This is fun. the sun seems low in the sky and doesn't go right over my house. Curious to see how the different sun paths affect production. Its an 8kw system so I guess it should be able to produce that. So far the highest has been 6.8kw
Awesome! My best so far was 42kwh in a day. I manage 4.7-4.9kw during peak times with a 6.8kw system. Seems like I'm not very efficient but I've been happy with my production so far. I'll get to 1mwh today after 35 full days of production.
