I must say I'm impressed with the integrity of these BMW dealers. Almost all of them seem to have the foresight to understand that steak is better than bubble gum. They seem to understand that pigs never win and in the end they get slaughtered. Now as far as the steak and bubble gum well the bubble gum is fast gratification make that fast ADM of 5 or 10 K and when the situation flips they will end up losing a customer for life. Now with the steak it has to be eaten slowly savored and enjoyed, a solid relationship that grows over time and is satisfying to all the party's involved.

I contacted ~5 dealers in June 2022 around Bay Area - only one was dishonest. Other were direct: ~5-10K over MSRP for loaded I4 with 1-2 weeks pickup and MSRP to place preorder and expect 6-9 months wait. After ~3 months I was getting offers to purchase canceled deliveries at MSRP that were similarly configured to mine. That was the time when DAPP was removed from e40.

I like a little pappy in the afternoon
If you're hitting Pappy in the afternoon, how do you go anywhere but down from there? Elmer T. Lee? Weller Antique 107?

I'm w Stryker on this. We've purchased 6 BMW's from our same Raleigh dealer since 2008. Always professional...always honest...no games.

Although, I'll admit that I'm kinda unhappy the last two days. We visited our dealer for traing by our local Genius - ran into our CA. I asked him if we are his most-frequent buyer - "not close, you're in the top 10 tho - you have work to do" :(;)

There are 3 BMW dealers within 20 miles so, my dealer does their best to earn customer loyalty.

I'm in a better mood now - celebrating Happy Hour w my 2nd martini!

I had a good experience with my dealer. Ordered in Nov '22 and they kept the '22 MSRP on my '23 MY, even after I got them to add back in DAPP just before my production date when it became available again, even though there was a '23 price increase in the works.

(Of course there was plenty of extra warranty &service plan add-ons that they tried to get me to buy at the actual purchase date, much of which I declined...)

They know the easiest customers are the repeat customers… bought my third from the same dealership and same CA because it’s always straightforward and honest.
+1, after picking up my eDrive35 today, I realized that all three of the BMWs in my garage I bought from Jon Shafer. I simply have no need to go to anyone else when I know I'll get straight answers, a solid deal, and be in/out of the office signing papers in <30min.

I live 1 mile from a dealer that treated me like I was not the kind of person that buys a BMW. Now I drive 20 miles to the dealer that treats me respectfully every time I go in there

I'm part of a hunting and martini club that has a small 4 bedroom lodge. They have had the same bottle of vermouth for more then 25 years now.

Just after college my wife and I went to look at bmws. My income sucked but she definitely could have swung it. The salespeople were total assholes, we asked to take a look in one and a few just walked off. It was for the better, we bought her a less expensive car. Fast forward like 10 years, back at another dealership, we definitely could have afforded one and they basically ignored us again.
I’m glad that this last round they didn’t do that. Within minutes of driving up we are always greeted. A few times my ca would go in to get keys and another would come up to make sure we weren’t being ignored.

I think it was back in the early 1990 that a friend of mine George worked for a family owned electrical contracting business. After a big new contract came in his dad authorized him purchase a Ferrari, Porsche etc. what ever he wanted. One look and they wouldn't even talk to George, disheartened he ended up at the place that sold him his first car a used Acura. After being welcomed at the dealer, 30 minuets he bought a black on black NSX

We found a good dealership in Newport RI and bought our e40 from them. A nearby dealership in Warwick RI required dealer-installed ceramic on all new car sales. We didn't go back. After we picked up the car, we had it coated by a local pro detailer for a third of the price BMW of Warwick demanded. I haven't been back to Newport for service yet so no comment on that.
