It’s not just the i4. Every BMW I’ve owned has been absolutely solid and the panels aligned. Even my two 10+ year old BMW cars still have no rattles or squeaks.

As an aside, I do like Dakar Yellow too.

I a car had been ordered with merino leather and leather dash, that would be a game changer for that review.

I wish my experience echoed this, but it unfortunately does not. My car has an annoying rattle in the front passenger door, and in both sides at the top of the C pillar, where the pillar panel meets the roofliner. Also, my car was delivered with a broken fan screen/mesh cover for the upper part of the driver seat ventilation, so if I turn on seat ventilation and put any of my body weight on the seat back, I get a really nasty sound like something is touching the fan.

...and when I tell my BMW dealer about it, they want me to wait weeks, and give them the car for several days. I don't mind going there several times, I just don't want to leave the car there; why can't they schedule a time for me to bring it in for a checkup, and another time for the fix? Disappointing.

Same. Had three 5 series over the years, and now an i4. All been the most solid new cars I've ever acquired - been essentially problem free from delivery and feel solid as. The 5 series all did over 100k and never rattled once, the i4's only 3k in but yeah - its a real high quality build.

I'd take it to another dealer if that's feasible.

Do they offer a loaner while it's in the shop? Feels strange to complain when they are happy to take it in and investigate. It's hard to know how long it take to fix a rattle. Just leave it with the shop a few days.

I have owned 4 other BMWs before the i4, all of them had issues at some point. 3/4 suffered from squeaking or rattling as well, but never anything extreme, except in one where they replaced all door rubbers.

I tried: same issue :(

They do offer a loaner, and I guess you’re right; it is strange to complain.

However, I love my car; I’m the type of person who won’t even park it in a corner spot unless it’s extra wide, I barely let anyone in it, etc. I’ve seen how the mechanics drive those cars. When I took it in for 10 minutes to investigate the app errors that everyone had a while back, they didn’t treat my car the way I would treat it. I’m not saying they mistreated it, but they closed the door by pushing on the window, and other things that may seem trivial to others but drove me nuts.

I can see them giving it to a mechanic to investigate, them going somewhere and parking it in the middle of the lot where it’ll get dinged. I’d rather deal with the rattles. I’ll probably look up how to take off those panels and attempt to fix the issue myself at some point.

I just wish BMW would’ve used better material, or given us an option for better material for the pillar/roof liner. I would’ve gladly paid $1000 for an Alcantara roofliner Go press on the roof liner near the C pillar, and you’ll see what I mean. It’s really cheap and makes all kinds of sounds when pressed (tried this on several i4s).

I have had great experience with my past several BMWs and the i4 has been no exception, BUT interestingly enough while going over some very rough road this morning noticed a rattle somewhere above the drivers door I will have the dealer look at eventually.

That said, this is leaps and bounds above most other vehicles I’ve owned.

I have a rattle on the passenger side, sometimes. It almost sounds like a loose speaker cover, maybe over the tweeter. I need to have my wife drive sometime so I can try to isolate it. It's not all of the time. And I did check, it's not the seatbelt.

Just be happy you never owned an early Model S P85+ like it i did.... what you are describing now is just funny comparing to the problems i had...
You need to understand that in the contract you signed at BMW it is stated that BMW has the right to repair any issues under warranty. That requires that you leave the car there so they can investigate order parts fit them and test them. If you expect to just drop it in for a couple of hours, you will have to have a good friend at some dealer that will bend the rules for you. What you ask for is not practical customer service and it creates an unnecessary bottleneck at dealers. You have the right to a loan car of equal or greater size if the dealer will keep your car for more than 48 hours. (so anything from 4 or 5 series and up).
