^ Wouldn't be a surprise if they did.
Mach-e California is eligible and the price is above 65k so considered a wagon. The I4 might be as well, will see. 4wd and the extra hp is a bargain at 4900$ premium
So the i4 xdrive40 is finally speced like it should have been from the beginning a "40" badged BMW! (an alternative to M440i/M440d). Now it's pretty much same power, 0-100kmh time like the sibilings have.
Performancewise it's quite competitve for the benchmark, Tesla M3 Long Range AWD. Great!!
Pricingwise it's basically same approach used for ICE vehciles with a consistent gap between M440i and the true M4.

I'm still thinking it will be sold in EU too.

April average consumption was 2,1

Tesla Bjørn managed even less consumption when he tested on 19 inch.

When I ordered my car in August 2021, price difference of a fully speced i4 40 was less than USD 2000 than a i4M50.

The Mach-E is a raised platform so is classified a SUV in the US though? Not sure what ground there will be to classify the i4 as a wagon or an SUV apart from 4 wheel drive

Difference between the e40 msport with options to match the m50 is like a 6k difference. You would really go for a e40x for like 4k less?

In the end, with the price increases, people who took delivery before March are going to get the m50 for the e40x 2024 price snyway.

I saw that also small difference in price. M50 is worth the 5k difference.

Yes, if you didn't want the options to match the M50. It's not meant to be a cut price M50. This is aimed at people who primarily want a standard i4 but with 4WD. Places with ice and snow, like...Canada!

The e40 production is starting to chug probably. Delivery times way down. Inventory at dealers.
Haha, if only! Maybe in the US, but in the rest of the world we’re still waiting ridiculous times to get even the e40. You guys don’t know how lucky you are. I ordered in July last year, it won’t be built until February next year, and won’t be delivered until June next year. If I’m lucky.

The majority of sales are not fully loaded highend vehicles, but rather entry level or mid range mid-optioned cars (considering the entire lifecycle of a model maybe 10-15% are fully spec'd cars). So x40 will help sales a lot long term (e40s especially are weak offerings imo).

LOL, you're going to piss off a lot of people with that comment!

I prefer the M50, for me, but even the base eDrive 40 is a great car with a lot to offer. If you aren't interested in the M50 'extras' (which many don't need), saving £12,000 (in the UK) makes a lot of sense.

Agree with this. Even if on paper the eDrive40 looks week compared to dual motor EVs, it drives amazingly. It’s ridiculous how many M50 owners or soon to be owners trash the e40 without ever having driven one or lived with one for a while.

Who has trashed the e40 other than that post just now? I just think the m50 is unique at its price point but the e40 is a great car.

it's really not about trashing (just my own analysis), so please take it as an opinion. no need for flames / thanks!
The i4 40 is a useless car, only 340 hp, 430 NM, and top speed of 190 km/h. (how often do you need to drive faster?)
Driving the i4 40 you will loose acceleration to both the Taycan, Model 3 performance, and i4 M50.
And who needs 590 KM WLTP of range ?

Well actually with the i4 40 you can be very proud of your car - and laught about the stupid people that have spent more money to get the i4 M50 with less range and a totally useless ridiculus fast acceleration.

Have fun with whatever i4, or iX you are driving.

Everyone makes the best choice for their preferences. The really cool thing is how many options we have from which to choose! e35, e40, x40 (soon), M50, plus all the various options available for each. And you get to build to your own specifications!

Precisely how I'm feeling about it!
I haven't even done a proper launch in my M50 yet.

Using launch control, I haven't...but I have floored it from a standstill and it feels like you almost have to get off the gas as soon as the pedal hits the floor (or maybe after a 1 count) or you're going 70-80 MPH. HUD is helpful for keeping you out of jail in that case, because the car also drives 90-100 MPH and feels like it's maybe doing 60 or 70.

EDIT: Actually I'm not even clear on how to engage launch control.

Press the brake and accelerator to the floor at the same time. The car will start to shake. Let off the brake and launch. You'll have about 2-3 seconds before it winds down from max if you don't let off the brake.
