Alignment specs after lowering:

View attachment 31820
Curious to see the difference of my car vs yours. As mine has more toe in on front and rear mostly. About 1-2mm but not sure the specs Bmw aligns these cars to from factory. I had my wife’s i4 aligned as she curbed both passenger wheels when in a snow storm. Replaced the wheels and got a realignment… but the right side was off by about 3-4mm for both wheels on passenger side. But was entirely corrected after alignment done. It’s amazing just a bump like that can cause so much of a change, but it’s a heavy ass car.
I believe steer ahead and thrust angle should be zero for most ideal. Surprised your car didn’t have as significant change from lowering the car.
i can say the cars felt better after an alignment, especially my wife’s m50 as it was noticeably off after the incident.

Admittedly, it does look a little naked 😉
Did you have a difficult time removing the old spoiler btw? I had a horrible time getting mine off, and that's with a heatgun and fishing line!

Ya, that makes sense; there's been a bunch of stories of serious damage caused by curbs due to the weight of the car. As you said, my car didn't seem that impacted by the lowering, and actually felt fine before the alignment. I wouldn't have even done it if it wasn't a typical thing to do after lowering. How is your car doing when it comes to tire wear? @toosteeley has drilled it into my head that toe = tire wear 😅

My car specs for alignment…

It seems as it’s been driver weighted the specs of the driver side are slight diff than ps. But makes sense. I think they figured 180lb person is average I think they said. And I’m 180lbs but don’t consider my fat butt to be average. I should be 145lbs based on my build but they told me this difference won’t matter much. It’s close enough. And the toe in of about 1 in front and 2 in Rear seems fine. It’s closer to factory spec albeit was surprised how off the alignment was for factory spec. My car had no issues hitting curbs but was off… but I did change wheels to be 20” nightgold wheels which are 9” wide vs 10” wide in rear… and added 10mm spacers front snd 25mm spacers in rear however don’t believe these should do anything for alignment… right!!!??? Maybe Bmw doesn’t spend much time with alignments. This being said… maybe it’s best everyone get a proper alignment no matter what..?
Most manufacturers recommend a chassis alignment which contains a small amount of toe-in. This will give the best possible stability at speed; the car will not have a tendency to wander. And the small amount of toe actually pre-loads the wheel bearings to make turning more instantaneous.

Yes, you want some toe in front for stability. It’s the rear in particular that chews tires.

Interesting that your toe is measure in mm rather than degrees. Not sure how to do the conversion on that…

Ya, definitely took time/patience with dental floss, a heat gun and gently using a friction wheel.

I’ve got a small area that’s either residual glue or some clear coat damage (doesn’t seem to be coming off so I’m thinking it’s unfortunately the later). Really hoping it gets covered by the new spoiler!! 😬

Sooooo good.

Have you considered black badges on the rear? I just did it and love it.

Wow, that looks stunning! So glad you kept the spoiler, and that diffuser looks amazing. 😍 Can't wait to see it in person on Saturday!

Looks so great!

Nice to have new photos before the snow falls...
