Agreed, the ppl on this forum have been very helpful. I've learned a great deal since joining.
this was the response I received from my CA yesterday regarding the 4M5. I have been approved for extended merino in Fiona (may go with Tartufo still) but according to him 4M5 is not available on i4

Very helpful again. I wish my CA was as helpful/would communicate like this. On the positive side, I suppose I am (eventually) getting a pretty sweet ride regardless how this turns out. Thank you!

If what you want is Fiona Red with a black leather dash then 4M5 cannot be ordered with Extended Merino. 4M5 only applies to Vernasca leather as an add-on option.

You would need to specifically request Individual Manufaktur exactly like this:

  • Full Merino Fiona Red
  • Leather dash with upper Nappa black leather, and lower Merino black leather, with red stitching.

Your CA will take this exact wording request to the VIP Ordering Specialist for approval. You may want to ask about Full Merino including carpet mats with piping in the color of the seats at no charge. Because the Fiona Red seats are black/red, it could be possible that the mat piping would be black.

None of this will show in the US ordering guide, that is why it is Individual Manufaktur.

These are examples of Individual Manufaktur requests for leather dash not found in the US Ordering Guide:

2015 320i with 4M5 (no 4M5 in 320i at all):
Vehicle Car Window Motor vehicle Car seat cover

2017 M3 with bicolor dash in 75%/25% Black/Golden Brown (original pattern was lower dash all Golden Brown):
Car Vehicle Gear shift Speedometer Steering part

2018 M3 with reverse Golden Brown/Black stripe (original pattern was lower dash all Golden Brown):
Car Vehicle Motor vehicle Hood Automotive design

Hope that this clarifies how this works.

@Technic I originally only started looking into the Merino because I knew i wanted to go with a color interior and the only two colors of Vernasca that I would even consider is Oyster or Cognac but I do not care for their color match lower dash (this was before you made me aware of the 4M5 option to swap out the lower dash for black)

Before learning of the 4M5, I approached my CA about extended Merino and he originally said "no not possible" which really irked me because I knew another guy on this forum was getting the Fiona merino in his wife's Dravit. So instead of taking my CA on his word, I pressed him and sent him a screen shot of the Fiona build on here and his response back to me was "we will get with our regional guy and do everything we can to get you what you want". I have never been given an exact price for extended Merino from my dealer but he did let me know up front it would delay my production time 6+ weeks and there would be a upcharge/ADM for requesting a BMW Individual on top of the extra cost of the Merino (the ADM he threw at me was $5000+ just to go Individual). I am also being told that once you go Individual and its approved you are locked in absolutely no more changes.

My understanding from your prior post is that I can forego my BMW individual request and just go with Oyster Vernasca with 4M5 option to make the dash black but now the same CA is telling me no that 4M5 with Vernasca is not even possible on the 4 series or i4 so now I am like

Notice that my 2015 320i (above photo) was Oyster Dakota, and I wanted a black dash with it. So I requested 4M5 and got it approved; 4M5 was not in the 320i Ordering Guide in the USA.

Thus 4M5 can be added to your build if the dealer requests what you want to BMWNA. Nothing can be done if the dealer do not ask at all.

I don't get the "ADM" for ordering Individual as this is just an extra piece of paperwork not done by your dealer. Your dealer needs to send an email with your request to the VIP Ordering Specialist at BMWNA and wait 3 days at the most for the answer. If approved, and you say "yes" to the approval, then the VIP modify your build - not your dealer. You will sign the special order paperwork sent by the VIP to your dealer with all the details and pricing of your request and that's it. I do understand dealers getting freaked out with cars with custom options that will be hard to sell if you back out, but for that they should request a non-refundable deposit in the amount of what you want and go forward with the request if you place that deposit. But just go forward with the request thru the proper channels, instead of speculating non-sense about what they do not want to do or don't know how to do it and wasting your time with misinformation, IMO.

The current Euro price of 4M5 is 1050 Euro which lately it is also the US MSRP in dollars. Back in 2015-2018, 4M5 in the USA was $950 usd, so $1050 usd now can be considered inflation.

You know these "Individual" options are in my eyes quite often really for special people (like in the phrase "he's quite an individual", that kind of person) :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Really, exaggeration is sometimes not even the correct word. (But as I said: MHO)

Well, to be honest, I don't really like the color green either, but on the car, it looks stunning....(but it was the wife who convinced me to change from the dull Brooklyn Grey to San Remo Green. At least BMW has 14 colors...Tesla has what? 3?
