me too but unless I have a clear coherent set and instructions in chronological order, and exactly what I need to buy. Or just a youtube video, I'm not doing it

@larbel do you happen to remember how you broke the front of the shifter cover free? There seems to be a clip there that I can't release.

The link that was posted online for the M1 and M2 buttons/harness took me to a page that was the module only (despite the picture showing the buttons as well) and didn't include buttons. I just repurchased it and I'm hoping this is the correct kit. @larbel, can you verify that this is what you bought?

My kit was from the ARDOX store at AliExpress - way cheaper than this.

And yes, OEM buttons and cover are a must with these kits.

I also bought the OEM buttons and top trim piece from the link posted earlier in this thread. I couldn't see a picture of the OEM buttons to compare, so I wasn't sure what else was needed. (I haven't received anything in the mail yet to be able to see if I've got duplicates of stuff.) The module linked to earlier in this thread is $160 by itself. Where can I find the module for $70? And if I buy that alone, does that include the parts that go in the steering wheel as well as the shifter console?

Got the following installed today...

OEM M1 M2 button + retrofit kit
OEM Carbon fiber steering cover
M Performance carbon shifter (DIY gel coated)
OEM rear fender trims
Advance eye 3.0 Pro

Day shot before the install...

M1 M2 with the retrofit kit worked like a charm  Switching between all the diving modes like it should, it came with additional functions like, seats moving back at ignition off and auto window closure when ignition off, I didn't like those function but it can be programmed off.

I have the Eibach springs already, but can't lower the car just yet because don't want to deal with possible warranty issue, will have to wait till after the first service. And can only access the suitable spacers then...

The M1 M2 retrofit kit requires you to take apart the OEM buttons and replace the PCB inside, and the PCB is attached to a wireless transmitter fitted into the steering wheel. And then you'll need to remove the shifter console cover and add a piggyback receiver module to the driving mode buttons. So basically, it's a 100% harmless but yet very functional mod. Highly recommended!
BMW G30 : M1/M2 BUTTONS RETROFIT (FULLY FUNCTIONAL) - YouTube

Is this youtube video the same as what you did? For them it says G30 so that's why I'm worried of any differences if I follow it

Has anyone tried adding paddle shifters to the wheel? There should be a slot for them if i'm not wrong. I wonder if it could be coded to do something

#84 ·
I have decided to be the sheep tester and ordered paddle shifters lol.

I also ordered the m1 and m2 buttons and module, and carbon fiber trim. Also alcantara arm rest and alcantara shifter.

I hope everything goes smoothly.

You need to order the G20 steering wheel to fit paddles, the i4 steering wheel has no paddles mount.

Do the white and yellow wires connect to anything? It appears they're needed to power the harness or something. I just don't know where to tap them.

FYI for those doing this, you'll need to puncture these slots to insert a screwdriver to release the airbag.

@larbel, @Technic, @Techwhiz1
Sorry to tag you all, but I need to wrap this up soon so I can charge my car tonight. 😬

2 questions

Are the white and yellow wires used (pics can be seen 2 posts up)

Do I have the new steering wheel harness connectors going to the correct spot (circled)?

I'm still not positive everything is connected correctly, but I assume it is. Now, how do I program these things?

#92 · (Edited)
So close to being done. Everything is hooked up and put back together. The weird programming with the doors is done. The only problem is my buttons don't work correctly. M1 won't save the last-used mode, and M2 only cycles through eco and modes. Think I got a bad module?

Yes, it says G30. (It's the one you linked to for me.) yes, OEM buttons. I can recheck the connections later, but I'm pretty sure they're good. 🙁

Ok, to be more specific, here's how the correct functions of the buttons:

M1 - Let's say if you're in Eco and press M1, it will go to Comfort, and press it again, it will go to Sport. And from there, it circles ONLY within Sport>Sport Boost>Sport Individual
M2 - If you're in Sport, you press M2, it goes to Comfort and then the Eco, THEN it circles within Eco from there.

Isn't this what you're not getting?
Yes. I guess it's working correctly. I assumed I could essential set them to a certain mode by cycling them to the mode I want and then using the lower buttons to change it if needed. At least now I know how they work. Thank you so much for the help along the way. I've taken a bunch of pictures to hopefully help others. I'll make a write up to pay it forward.

Function 1 - Driver seat comfort access (Seat moves back at power off, and moves forward at power on)
Corresponding action - Program while with only rear left door opened.”

This is the first time I read this on this thread, is this only possible with the m1 and m2 buttons installed? I ordered them and they aren’t here yet, but this sounds unrelated and if so I want to have this happen in my car!
All I need to do is press the fob 6 times with the rear left door open ?

Doesn’t work on G series I don’t think…
This particular coding sequence may not work in the G-chassis (it is from the F-chassis) however “easy entry” coding is available for the G2x from the G30.

That is the reason that these paddles engage “easy entry” via hardware.

I've made an installation guide with pictures and links to how-to videos. Hopefully this makes it easier for others moving forward.
