Hi all. I’ve ordered my M50 but don’t need to confirm the spec until August however the configurator on the uk isn’t up and running on anything other than colour and wheels really. On all the press photos and videos of the M50 they have the M sport seats and I can’t work out if these will be standard or an extra? On the M440i they are an extra but on the M340i they are std. Adding them as an extra on the 440 adds £2850 onto the price as you need the comfort plus pack. It’s an expensive option if so but think vital for the car.

Funnily enough that’s me. 😀 that’s my order and looking at it closely got me thinking about the M sport seats. Only them and possibly 20” alloys are what I would add that isn’t on there already.

Ah no that’s absolutely cool. Thank you for posting it. Didn’t think to post it on here as well.
Thanks for the info too, looks like the car is going to get a bit more expensive!
That is my concern as well for the M50 here in the US. The starting price is a little more than I want to pay but honesty it may be my favorite production car coming out or currently available. I really like Taycan Cross Turismo but that really is out of my budget.

It’s so easy to get carried away. I’ve read today that getting the 20 inch alloys gets you the wider rear tyres so gets a flarred rear arch which will help make it more aggressive and now the m seats needing to be part of a pack it starts adding up quickly. The standard spec is generous but those two extras are essential in my opinion so it’s more expense.

Take a look at my screenshots in this post which explain what it is (or at least part of it) - Where do we reserve?
I saw the picture, and I don't think it makes much sense.

In Denmark, below is written as standard equipment:
Widescreen display (6WC)
ConnectedDrive Services

So as standard, you should get most of the stuff the picture says: Display cluster 14.9" + info display 12.3" (this must be the standard widescreen), iDrive with touch (this must be standard), BMW ID8 software (idrive 8 is standard in all i4s), BMW Intelligent personal Assistant (maybe the assistant is not part of the standard system?), BMW Navigation (A assume, that NAV is part of the connected drive services).

Then we have below left:
2 USB connections
Head-Up Display

I really hope that the BMW Live Cockpit Professional (6U3) is just the Head-Up Display. But I will have to confirm this when going and make my configuration Wednesday.

I think just because it's standard doesn't mean it isn't part of Live Cockpit Professional. Googling around a bit it seems it mostly refers to the fact the instrument cluster is digital rather than analog, so the "Widescreen display (6WC)" might just be the curved screen itself, or even the secondary screen for infotainment etc.

Supporting stuff:
https://www.sytner.co.uk/bmw/news/bmw-cockpit/ - (I know this is about v7 not v8)
BMW Operating System 7.0 refers to the software package and functionality of the new and fully digital display and control concept, which relies on the digital-only display cluster of BMW Live Cockpit Professional.

There will be three levels of BMW Cockpit:

  • BMW Live Cockpit
  • BMW Live Cockpit Plus
  • BMW Live Cockpit Professional

The top-line Professional system will have a full digital instrument cluster in addition to the centre touchscreen that features on all systems – BMW calls this the Control Display, with the digital cluster being the Info Display.

You cannot get analog displays in the i4 or iX. There are only one screen option which is the standard widescreen display. That is why the old terms of "live cockpit" cannot be applied to the cars with iDrive 8. Which is also why my dealer couldn't answer the questions without having to read more into the material they have received.

I understand you can't get analog displays in the car, what I mean is that just because you can't get an analog doesn't mean they aren't calling what you do get the Live Cockpit Professional because that is an understood option that matches the spec of the car. Given what they have used that name to mean on other cars (the fully digital displays), to me it would seem to be the case that they just say you get Live Cockpit Professional. You also can't get the M50 without "Connected Package Pro" for example, but it's still listed as an option for the car - I think it's likely it's just how they describe the features it has.

I Get your meaning now! It makes sense that they reuse the known names.

But what I don't get is, that they have both the widescreen listed as code 6WC (standard), but then I can still buy the Live cockpit professional 6U3 as part of the "innovation pack".
And I'm afraid that I will miss some important features by not selecting this option.

Yeah okay, that is odd and I think that is not the case in the UK, so maybe on this car Live Cockpit Professional has been expanded to also include the HUD or something like that? Seems very unclear on what you have posted there. The screenshots I posted for the UK and clearly show stuff like Live Cockpit Professional and the HUD are standard on UK models, so hopefully they will release some more info soon for all markets.

Then I may assume that BMW Denmark have not fully understand the new options list and have mistyped some of these names. As HUD is not mentioned anywhere else on my picture, the Live Cockpit must be the HUD.

I will update in here once I have this confirmed for the Danish market :)

So I noticed that the i4 appeared on Nationwide Car Leasing - while they don't have any information on monthly pricing yet, what is interesting is they do seem to have option lists for both the eDrive 40 and M50. No idea if these are correct but the pricing on them looks pretty expected.

M50:

959

eDrive 40:

960

Unclear what things like the "Tech Plus Pack" will be on the M50 since it should already have HUD etc. in UK spec.

Does show the M Seats as an option though.

Thanks for sharing this! So when looking at the PDF you have shared, live cockpit professional have:

  • Navigatiefunctie met 3D kaartweergave vanuit diverse perspectieven en auto-zoom
  • Weergave van satellietbeelden, bebouwing en gedetailleerd straatzicht
  • Weergave van widgets zoals album cover en voertuig status.
  • Viervoudige tuner met RDS. (instead of double as standard)
  • Head Up display

So lots of more details when it comes to navigation with this package. The differnece in tuners I cannot see what exactly is. And then the widgets with album info must be a typo. It would be strange if this is not standard. Anyway, I have chosen a package where live cockpit proffeisonal is included. So it will not be a issue anyway :)
