MY23 door panel storage ambient delete question...

First picture, MY22 with the door panel storage ambient, second picture is MY23 without... The holes are there, and I guess BMW deleted the storage ambient along with the door entry light since it's on the same loom which is missing on the MY23. Does anyone know the light's part number for the storage ambient? I know it's stupid but that's why it's OCD :p

I actually found an old TIS for F15, it basically says new LED modules need to be configure/addressed with ISTA so I guess it's the same for G series... o_O Still waiting for the remote session...

Went ahead and installed ISTA D, and after performing Autoaddressing ambient light BDC, it's working now! And for the record, it's:

Vehicle management > Service functions
Body / Lighting / Interior light autoaddressing / Autoadressing, ambient light
ABL Autoaddressing ambient light BDC

Add to and carry out the test plan..

Wow, amazing! How difficult was it to install overall, and what software is that? I think you mentioned eSys? As a complete newbie to this stuff, can you explain the process?

The lights are RGB, and synced with the rest of the car, or just white?

Hmm.. Everything needed is in this thread already, to make the wires, you'll need the connectors from here Plugs Connectors Bmw | Connector Bmw Ambient Light | Connector Plug 4pin Bmw - 4pin G38 - Aliexpress The wires are about 30" long to route along the OEM harness.

The part numbers for the fiber optics and LED modules are:

63316998139 Fibre-optic conductor door pocket front left X 1
63316998140 Fibre-optic conductor door pocket front right X 1
63316998141 Fibre-optic conductor door pocket rear left X 1
63316998142 Fibre-optic conductor door pocket rear right X 1
63319891437 LED module violet X 4

The LED modules are RGB and colors are controlled along with the other ambients from iD8, I just happened to like "pearl"... :ROFLMAO:

There're many videos on youtube on how to remove the door panel, it's a b!tch the first time removing it, and you basically have to have the correct trim removal tool or it's like impossible. Instead of the usual plastic trim removal tool, you'll need a metal one and wrapped it, so you don't scratch the paints but other than that it's pretty straight forward.

Overall, it's pretty simple and straight forward install, the only thing you need to worry about is not breaking anything when removing the door panel, not really difficult at all. But what crazy is the factory harness is just right there! Totally don't get why BMW decided to delete this... I doubt the LED modules are in short supply either..

Anyway, for the coding, if you're not familiar, I'd suggest finding someone to code it or a remote session to enable them. ISTA-D is part of the dealer service software ISTA+, D alone it's like a 140gb install and can be confusing if you're completely new to this.

And anyone seen this tweeter cover? There's a Korean guy who retrofitted B&W with this, no idea where he found them though, much better than the one I got...

This is so informative and helpful. Thank you so much for doing that! Really looking forward to your future mods as well!
Major props! Maybe one day I'll get the bug to do this, but right now the juice may not be worth the squeeze for me. Awesome though!

For anyone who may want to tackle this... I tapped the front door LED modules into the rear of the LED ambient stripe and all went well after autoaddressing. I finally got around to do the rear doors today, and I also went tapped into the rear of the LED ambient stripe, and after autoaddressing, I got LIN Bus errors and all the ambient flashes like every 10 secs lol I then rewired them to the rear door handle ambient and run autoaddressing again, and that fixed the error. So DO NOT TAP INTO THE LED STRIPES AT THE REAR if you're doing the rears lol

Also finished the B&W speakers retrofit (Had the rear seat side panels left), but am actually quite confused with BMW... On the mids, both the HKs and the B&Ws had a green dot on the lower slot which I assumed is for the tweeter, but in reality, they're connected all over the place... Some tweeters are connected to the green dots, some aren't... I guess that means it really doesn't matter which slot to connect? But then why the green dot in the first place??? o_O

Anyway, couldn't find any suitable 8 ohm door woofer, so now just waiting for the Audison APBX 10 AS2 and Helix AAC.3 HP to arrive and finish the audio setup.. The sub right now really isn't all that bad after adding Dynamat and stuffing the sub housing, the rear seat could actually feel the bass, but still missing more low frequencies and "roundness", the Audison should fixes that and I think it should come out decent.

Well.. Basically, I'll need to rewire the LED modules, I think I broke the LIN Bus network connecting like this, although everything seems to be working, might as well wire it the OEM way after looking at the wiring diagram..
