Is this loud squeaking sort of sound normal from the heat pump? It's had the noise ever since delivery and the car now just has over 100 miles on it. Sounds even louder and worse at times. Seems to get a little quieter the longer the car is on, but the noise never goes completely away.

After 10 days of having the car, my pump disintegrated (screw impeller) and resulted in drive train failure. Electrical isolation problems were also reported by the BMW diagnostics as iron filings from the impeller were in the coolant and a number of parts had to be replaced as could not get flushed out.
Took 4.5 months before I got the car back fixed.
The major delay was due to the i4 having 'new' coolant pipe connection fittings to enable the BMW flushing tool to be attached to the car.
Would get it checked out ASAP.

Two days before it failed I heard a mechanical crunching noise for a few seconds whilst driving at low speed. Thought nothing of it at the time as no error messages on the dash.
Your noise suggests an impeller or bearing problem.

Thanks for the replies, definitely concerned now. :(

Here are a couple more videos of the noise after it's been running awhile and with the hood closed. Just curious if these sound normal or if there shouldn't be any sound if it is working properly.

This doesn’t sound normal at all, and considering what @Woorlord just said, I wouldn’t run the car at all until it’s fixed! Tell the dealership you don’t feel comfortable driving it when it sounds like that, and that they need to tow it.

My M50 heat pump sounds similar to the first video, but not as loud and more of a pulsed "swishing". I can't hear it much at all with cover in place. Sounds like cavitation maybe, but I've never heard any other variable-speed impeller pump to compare with.

It definitely alternates speed, runs fast, then slow, then fast again like your video and I don't know why the motor or climate heater would need such fast reaction. In my case, only climate heat was active, in 'stopped' mode, after sitting overnight near 50F.
