Tire Wheel Car Automotive tire Hood

The previous tire went flat after our initial test drive. The second flat was caused by our world renowned Pennsylvania Pot holes. Anyone else think these pirelli tires are defective? $388 for a new front tire. Almost $1600 for a set of 4, probably more if I get road hazard on them. I’m not saying I’m replacing all 4 but I will have to do that eventually. I knew BMWs were notorious for being a money pit, but I thought I could at least get a year or two out of it before drained my bank account.

Your car is cursed. This is what I believed on one of my previous cars when I had an average of one flat a year.
You are probably correct. I don’t think it likes me driving it since it’s technically my wife’s car. Do you think a Catholic priests would perform an exorcism on a car? It’s worth a shot.

I think you just need an old priest and a young priest to fill up the washer fluid reservoir with holy water, and you should be good.

Hits pothole, tire goes flat and inquires if the tire could be defective lol. These are low profile tires so if you hit a pot hole at the right (wrong) speed and angle then you essentially compress the tire with a concrete edge into your wheel. If it was a nasty pot hole you hit you should be happy it's only a tire as opposed to a bent wheel on top. Hoping you have better luck going forward.

Yea, this is the kind of post I would expect to see on a Tesla forum. It sucks, has happened to me in a previous car, but chalked it up to needing to be more careful. Also, before I buy a car I make sure to see how much tires will cost before I buy the car, then there's no shock when I need one.

For OP, I would go to discount tire or similar store and see about buying road hazard on the current set. I did that on my wife's, would have done the same on mine but I figured the first pair would probably not last a year.

How many miles were on them before the flat? Depending on that, I would consider replacement of the matching tire too.

Tires are pretty cheap compared to anything else on the car, it's a matter of perspective. Also TireRack has great pricing.

If you're looking to get a new set, consider all seasons from Continental they have a good price/wear combination...under $1k for DWS06 if I remember correctly. That's pretty much the cheapest tire I would use from a trusted brand.

I assume your bank account is not actually drained, just dinged and while painful you'll be doing this every 24-36months, depending on how you drive and it's not just with BMWs.

Best of luck.

I think that I would rather be replacing (2) tires in the first 3 months than replacing (2) doors. Would have been (3) doors with the front driver’s being replaced twice, but the shop never ordered the first one.

Even so, I feel lucky that I have not had some of the problems others have. I mean we actually got our cars. There’s more than one forum member whose car wasn’t delivered or was recalled for that battery issue and are still waiting for a resolution.

About $720 each from BMW according to my body shop estimate. The next thing to get damaged is the control arms and those aren’t cheap either.

The car is very heavy and the tires are low profile. You have to be very careful on bad roads.
Exactly! Also why other EV owners (not just BMW) have similar experiences.
