This would be our fourth meetup and drive in SoCal. Let's keep the momentum going, looking forward to seeing even more i4's than in our previous drive and seeing some of you again.

Ride details :
  • We would meet at the Malibu Bluffs Park(24250 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA) on Sunday, February 25th @ 9:00AM 15~ cars should have no issues parking there. (Google Maps).
  • At 9:30AM (latest), we would leave and take a scenic drive ~29 or so miles total, starting on Pacific Coast Hwy, then up Latigo Canyon Road all the way up to where Latigo Canyon Road intersects with Kanan Road. After we get to Kanan Road we'll head back down Kanan Road to Pacific Coast Highway. If time allows, join us for early lunch at Duke's Malibu (21150 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265). This place is famous for their Hula pies: Duke's Malibu Website
I am attaching a Map with addresses for easy reference.

I'm attaching the ABRP link so you can do your own calculation for range/charge purposes: A Better Route Planner - Malibu Drive

Fast charging options close to starting point (verified as of 9/1/2023, please check updated charger availability):
  • 1 miles from bluffs park: Electrify America Charging Station, 3822 Cross Creek Rd, Malibu, CA 90265 (3 CCS stalls) - probably busy since they're only 3 stalls.
  • 13 miles from bluffs park: EVgo Charging Stations:, 1334 5th St, Santa Monica, CA 90401 (10 CCS stalls) There are 3 EVGo locations in the same area, multiple options
  • 13 miles from bluffs park: EVgo Charging Stations:, 1636 5th St, Santa Monica, CA 90401 (8 CCS stalls)
  • 13 miles from bluffs park: EVgo Charging Stations:, 1855 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90401 (7 CCS stalls)
  • 21 miles from bluffs park: Electrify America Charging Station, 6000 Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230 (10 CCS stalls) - likely best for people driving north to get to the meetup

Other important notes:
  • Depending on traffic we could easily spend 30% SoC on this drive, please have at least 40% SoC at the meetup place.
  • Amenities:
    • Restrooms should be available at Bluffs park and definitely at the Duke's Malibu restaurant.
  • It is hard to anticipate how many would be interested and show up, details of this ride might change the day of depending.
  • Any day of updates will be posted on this thread the day of.
  • Parking at Duke's Malibu is Valet Only. Valet parking fee is $12 (not including tip). Fee can be paid using cash or card.
  • I will attempt to make a reservation once I have an idea how many will join.

I'm in! Latigo is a fun road when you have a car that can handle it! We'll give the crotch-rockets coming from the Rock Store a run for their money!

I just drove the coast home from Santa Barbara last Saturday. If my wife wasn't with me, I would have gone the long way and done Decker Canyon.

By the way...odd that I did not get an alert for this post. I see you tagged me but I only came across it after seeing it on the home page.

I got the notification from being tagged. Seeing 12 i4s will be cool!😎
I just saw 2 i4 M50s today. I saw a Portimao Blue Metallic M50 on LaCienenga Blvd south of the Beverly Center.

I was going to Berlins German Doenner in Los Angeles(BERLINS Doner Kebab Restaurant Los Angeles) and when I went to make my turn I caught this brand new one with paper plates in the wild:

Still seems pretty rare to see another i4 (let alone an M50) on the road so a gathering of 13 or so will be a blast. It'll be cool to see a variety of paint colors.

You can blame me for the rain...seriously! I washed my car yesterday morning and am pretty sure the rain gods decided to have a laugh and undo my wash job.

can't wait to meet more BMW enthusiast . I used to do this back in day with group of E38s from Bimmerboard.com
I also had a 10yr rum with group from all over USA meetup at Pagosa Springs, co. group called Drive4Corners.com
see you this Sunday.
It’s hard to believe that the E38 7 series is only 7.8 inches longer that the i4. That must have been a comfortable cruiser as well.

Looking forward to meeting everyone too! 😎
I have 3 of the compartments in the pic up for grabs. First 3 to ask get one!
I'll give @cruzer666 first right of refusal, since he set this up for us all.
The multi quantity discount vs shipping was almost a wash.
I use mine for the garage fob. Our garage door opener refuses to speak to either car.

Thanks! I'm good, but bring them to the meetup, someone might want them :)

Looks like we’ll have all 3 models tomorrow and very excited to say we’ll have 7 different color i4’s, including a couple of Tanzanite blues that I haven’t seen up close yet.

Here’s the breakdown in cars and colors (from people that RSVP’ed “Yes” and minus @Mad bunny since I don’t know their M50’s color):
- 8 M50s / 6 eDrive40s / 1 eDrive35

Colors:
  • 4 San Remo Green
  • 2 Frozen Portimao Blue
  • 2 Mineral White
  • 2 Brooklyn Gray
  • 1 Skyscraper Gray
  • 2 Tanzanite Blue
  • 1 Portimao Blue

See you all tomorrow!

Funny how M50's are in the majority.
Interesting to see the green being so popular. I didn't expect that!
Being another fan of the green, no comment there, but I think the reason for so many M50s is that events like this are more for enthusiasts... the M50 is an enthusiat's car.

I am an enthusiast-lite and opted to go with the M sportified eDrive 40. I made the decision since I don't need AWD, wanted to lower the weight, get a range bump, and mistakenly thought the turning radius would be better. Now having lived with the car for a couple of weeks if I were to do it again, I would probably have sprung for the M50. The 40 is as quick as you need around town, but hill climbing I do feel it running out of steam. These i4s are pigs and pushing all that mass up a hill is tough for a single 335hp motor.

That said, it is fun getting the back end to kick out and slide a bit in turns. I have missed that with the front biased AWD Golf Rs that have been my last two cars.

PS: I wish I could pop down there and add a fifth SRG i4 to the mix but my car is is still at the detailer getting PPF'd.

I get that! I'm hardly an enthusiast, myself. This is the first time I got a car worthy of enthusiasm 😅
That said, I always figured with BMW there would be some variability in preference, mainly because some people prefer the pure RWD feel over how AWD feels.
