If you've had your i4 tinted, would you post photos with info on the tint levels? I'm trying to decide what to get. Here in Colorado, max legal is 35%.

Sides and rear are 20% and windshield is 50%. Ceramic.
Big difference before and after ? From a heat transfer perspective. Also, have you had ceramic without the windshield tinted ? Any thoughts ?

I didn’t do the front windshield either. You can feel the heat coming through the front only if the sun is directly in front of you. That is the only place I feel a noticeable amount of heat. I considered doing 70% on front but I don’t want to have to replace it every year when the car inspection needs to be replaced and the shop ultimately destroys the film taking off the old sticker.

Here are a couple more pictures from the side. I think how dark it looks ultimately depends on how much light is coming through the front windshield. The i4 is 15% all around except windshield. The iX is 14% rear (factory tint measured by the tint shop) and we added 70% for heat rejection. The front is 20%. Nothing on the windshield. Also, the interior lights were on when I took the picture of the iX but not the i4

I need to take some more pictures but I’m happy with how 30% turned out (all windows but windshield) View attachment 17702
Not sure of the tint percentage but our car looks tinted the exact same way Unless you have the same percentage all around. Our tint on the back windows are one shade darker. Love the car btw.

Edit: Just saw thay you have 30 percent tint all around.

I’m debating the windshield and the sunroof. I’m also debating ceramic vs regular tint. Normally ceramic is a waste since I don’t keep the car long enough to fully benefit from its longevity, but it does help with comfort and lower AC usage.

This is the first time I did ceramic. The heat rejection is much better on the ceramic. I don’t know if the reduction in AC usage will be noticeable but in theory it sounds like it should increase efficiency.

Thanks for this thread, it’s very useful. I’m thinking of having my windows tinted - it looks great on a white car. I’ll have to look up the UK laws though, if I remember correctly you’re not allowed tinting at the front?

I would still do the front with 80, especially if you're fair skinned since it will block skin cancer causing uv rays.

Definitely a large difference once tinted. This is my 5th or 6th car with ceramic tint. I find it much superior at blocking heat than regular tint. Only 2nd time I have tinted windshield. Would definitely recommend it as it cuts down on glare at night and helps keep the car cooler during the day (temps can get to 114F where I live).
