I know no one reads them, so here is a summary, hope someone will read

WTF
  • Contain or emit chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects and reproductive harm
  • Avoid breathing exhaust
  • Do not leave children or animals unattended in the vehicle
  • Pedestrians and other road users might pay less attention to the vehicle due to the lack of engine noise
  • Stop and use the integrated information systems while the vehicle is stationary.
  • Persons who spend a lengthy time in the vehicle while being exposed to extreme temperatures.
  • A heated vehicle may result in death to persons, especially children, or animals.
  • Indicators and warnings cannot serve as a substitute for the driver’s personal judgment.
  • Contact with the cigarette lighter can cause burns.
  • Hot drinks can damage the cup holder or lead to scalding
  • Vehicle electronics and mobile phones can influence one another. If possible, in the car's interior, use only mobile phones with direct connections to an external antenna in order to exclude mutual interference and deflect the radiation from the car's interior.
  • In the event of frost, the window may freeze up and not be lowered.
  • Light but consistent pressure on the brake pedal can lead to high temperatures, brakes wearing out, and possibly even brake system failure.
  • The vehicle is not designed for use in M Sport or motor sport type competition. There is a risk of accident. Do not use the vehicle for M Sport or motor sport type competitions.
High-voltage Battery
  • An unusually high temperature of the battery can cause gas and smoke.
  • Even when battery is discharged, the system is always still under high voltage.
  • If charge current strength is adjusted incorrectly, the power mains of the domestic socket can be overloaded and overheat.

Driving Assistance
  • Individual functions can malfunction during tow-starting/towing when Forward Collision Mitigation is activated.
  • Cruise Control: use of the system can lead to an increased risk of accidents in the following situations: winding roads, in heavy traffic, on slippery roads, in fog, snow, or wet conditions, or on a loose road surface.
  • The Set speed can be incorrectly adjusted or called up by mistake.
  • Active Cruise Control: Risk of accident due to too high speed differences to other vehicles, when fast approaching a slowly moving or standing vehicle, when vehicle suddenly swerving into own lane
  • when PDC Park Distance Control is activated, the warning can be delayed due to physical circumstances
Wireless charging
  • When charging a device that meets the Qi standard in the wireless charging tray, any metal objects located between the device and the tray can become very hot.
  • If the Key Card and a mobile device are in the wireless charging tray at the same time, the Key Card could become damaged.

Safety belts & airbags
  • With a backrest inclined too far to the rear, the protective effect of the safety belt can no longer be ensured.
  • Use of a safety belt to buckle more than one person will potentially defeat the ability of the safety belt to serve its protective function.
  • Exposure to intense sunlight can cause child restraint systems and their components to become very hot
  • The seat belt cannot be fastened correctly on children < 5 ft/150 cm without suitable additional child restraint systems.
  • Individual components can be hot after triggering of the airbag system. Do not touch individual components.
  • To ensure the front passenger airbag function, the system must be able to detect whether a person is sitting in the front passenger seat.
Tires & Wheels
  • A tire with too little or no inflation pressure may heat up and sustain damage. Drive < 50 mph/80 km/h.
  • Adjust tire pressures for speeds > 100 mph/160 km/h
  • Larger wheels have a smaller tire cross-section: the smaller the tire cross-section, the higher the risk
  • Incorrect wheel/tire combinations will impair the vehicle's handling characteristics and functions such as the ABS or DSC.
  • High gross weight can overheat the tires, damage them internally and cause a sudden tire pressure loss.

Washes
  • Depending on the vehicle width, the vehicle can be damaged in car washes.
  • If the rain sensor is activated, the wipers can accidentally start moving in vehicle washes
  • When washing with an open charging socket cover, the charging socket can be damaged.
  • Using a car wash with high pressure washers may result in water penetration of window areas
Other stuffs
  • Focused laser light can irritate or permanently damage the retina of the eye
  • Accessories on the windows such as antennas can impact jam protection.
  • Objects reflected in the mirror are closer than they appear.
  • When driving with a roof load, the vehicle's center of gravity is higher, which increases the risk of the vehicle tipping
  • Due to new parts and components, safety and driver assistance systems can react with a delay

They should have added "Use of touch screen during driving may divert attention from the road, and lead to accidents, property damage, injury and death (oh and by the way we got rid of actual buttons you could use instead)". :(

The part with “can cause cancer and birth defects” sounds a bit worrying.
The other make perfect sense.
Under California law almost anything is a carcinogen. 🙄

When you go to a Home Depot, you’d be stunned at how many products carry the California Prop 65 carcinogen/birth defect warning. If you took it seriously, you’d generally walk out with nothing.

Some scientists theorize that cancer is part of life, we think it is more frequent today than, say 200 years ago, mostly because 1) they did not diagnose it well at the time, and 2) people did not live as long and died of "natural causes", which is a way to say "we don't know why they died but they are old". So in a sense, water and air are carcinogen and deadly because everybody that drinks water or breathes air get cancer (unless they die before) and dies (eventually). 😢

"life is a deadly disease"
but there are causes of cancers that have nothing natural, which should be avoided

The warning about cancer appears almost everywhere in California, and at the entrance to most buildings. It is taken as a joke now.

Every advancement since the invention of fire has raised the risk of cancer, so whenever there is a study to prove the obvious there is another thing that needs the warning label.

I shudder to think what notice will be required if a smoker's breast milk is shown to cause cancer.

Luckily the I4 has 84 buttons to push!

All kidding aside, I will be careful to turn off my rain sensor in the car wash.

The mobile phones thing has been a warning with planes and cars since they were invented, pretty much. Car companies don't have control on phones, especially cheap phones that don't control well their RF emissions.
Hot drinks should be in a proper container, and some of those paper cups are really cheap. You really don't want to have it fail and spill coffee anywhere in the car, though I would be very curious to see whether the cubby hole where these things are is well sealed against liquids leaking into the battery electronics below it.
Electric windows freezing happens a few times a year in Canada for any car. Actually, when it is very cold outside, and the car is cold, they recommend you wait until the car warms up before attempting to lower the window glass. Even if the motor works, you do risk shattering the glass if it is frozen solid.
And a "light but consistent pressure on the brake pedal" is a horrible way to drive (they call it "riding the brake"); in the case of an i4, the beginning of the travel is actually all recuperation, so it's not an issue, but the right way to brake is to apply firm pressure for a short period of time; pumping it moderately if you just want to slow down without activating the ABS, or full on with maximum pressure if you need to stop and engage the ABS.

  • If the hot content of your cup swaps over
  • Bluetooth and Wifi on 2,4GHz to be known to make problems (first hand experience at home with my wifi)
  • Problem of frameless windows (very rare, never driven one?)
  • to slip the brake is no normal use, downhill case of fading as example

Agreed, @gsbaker. We had a situation when we forgot to do so with another vehicle and the car wash “readjusted” our windshield wiper arm. Fortunately, it was something that could be snapped back into place without damage, but still. It happens!

Very true, never thought of that. First time I had frameless windows was in Texas where frost is only a problem 1-2 days per year. @gsbaker, did you ever have cars with frameless windows? Is there a risk it may freeze to the seal and the window may shatter when trying to open the door after a bout of snow of sleet then overnight hard freezing?

  • that reassures me, it is not specified
  • EMC problems can be solved, it's a matter of means. (I remember a test where the guy had to change the microphone because of the emissions of the i4)
  • never. there are no joints to block the humidity?
  • if it can break the brakes, the car could detect it and do something

I guess that means that vehicles & mobile phones are 'influencers'. Who knew?
