Were your friendly BMW dealers gorging on their customers in 2022 like other dealers who were charging 5 10 20 K ADM over sticker and putting addons on new vehicles like they were something you really wanted or needed. I bought a Hyundai I5 a year ago and the dealers there were eating the meat and drinking the blood of anyone who walked in the front door of the dealership

From reading the forum the past 15 months, I would say that people who pre-ordered were mostly paying MSRP with not much price gouging or unwanted dealer add-ons taking place.
However, for people that walked in off the street buying cancelled pre-orders, far more dealers were tacking on‘market price adjustments’ or similar markups.

I'd also say that there were/are a few "bad" dealers charging over MSRP. My dealer (Dreyer and Reinbold BMW in Indianapolis) was great from that perspective. No markup (whether ordered or off the street), no mandatory addons, etc.

It sounded like the Autonation owned dealers were potentially some of the worst.

I was just going off what I inferred as the sentiment from many threads. I will 100% say that I have no direct experience with them.

Mine said they would be MSRP at the dealership when I went to test drive a m440 GC (the closest thing they had to an i4). I liked that answer so I went in and put in my pre-order. A couple months later my wife and I ordered an X5, same deal MSRP.

I also got the promised 1.9% financing rate with no issues.

Ordered in Nov. 2021, so no pre-order price protection. Quoted MSRP and when asked about ADM, my CA said "I don't do business that way." I did pay 2023 MSRP on delivery in early 2023, but that was part of the contract. No push for add-ons.

Ordered at one dealer in April 2022, at MSRP. Still waiting for an allocation in Nov 2022, and CA calls and says they have a cancelled order in production, similar build to mine but different interior and exterior colors, should arrive early Jan 2023. Told him I was very interested and asked him to send me the build sheet so I could compare to mine. Then he adds there is a $10K market adjustment - I actually laughed out loud and told him don't even bother sending the build sheet. Happened to be at another dealer in late January at the moment someone backed out of their M50 that had just arrived a couple days prior (very similar build to mine, again different colors), drove it home that night!

Pre-ordered June 6, 2021. Picked up Aug 28, 2022 at BMW of Portland, OR. No mark ups, 1.9% financing honored, no games along the way, good communication over the wait time. My i4 is the second car I've purchased there, and would buy there again for sure.
