My wife surprised me with her desire for an EV to replace her CR-V. She keeps cars for a long time (10+ years) and her logic is “the world will be very different at the end of my next car” and you know what, I can’t argue with her. The hardest part is actually finding an EV for sale.I actually think I'm better than ICE drivers, although I have to admit that I'm both (I promise I'm not bipolar!!).My ZL1 is an engaging drive, but it's almost too engaging, literally. I have to manage what gear I'm in, roll into the throttle slowly so I don't look like a dbag at a stoplight, and then there's the expense of gassing it up. The Leaf I drive is much more simple. The one pedal driving, the idea of just plugging it in overnight or when I'm at work, I actually feel like I spend less time as I'm not sitting at a gas station to fill up, I charge the car and then go about my day doing other things. The only and biggest complaint I have (aside from the lack of ventilated seats, more specifically an issue with the leaf) is that I have to plan my day accordingly. If I don't bother charging overnight or during the day then I'll have to use my ICE to run errands. Aside from that, if I had to live with just an EV, I think I could manage.
Oh and yes, I think I'm better than myself, but sometimes myself doesn't agree... 🤪
Oh and one thing I forgot to mention, my ICE vehicle is more "analog" on purpose. I figure in a few years it's going to be difficult to buy a manual transmission RWD V8.
So a BMW EV driver must render them catatonic.

540 hp is not lame in the literal sense.I don‘t know if this counts as a myth about EVs, but I often hear that it won‘t help the climate if small countries like Germany stop using petrol (and other fossil fuels) if the Chinese go on polluting like there was no tomorrow. This completely fails to recognize that a) the per capita CO2 emissions are far lower in China than in the US or many other industrialized countries to begin with and that b) China is massively transforming towards renewable energies. So that‘s no excuse not to at least try our best. That's why I decided to bite the bullet for the sake of the planet and order this lame, fun-free, butt-ugly i4 M50.
Hey, chargers need maintenance and that means jobs.
Don't forget that horses give of methane, a very significant greenhouse gas.
And carbon emissions when running, as well.
I sometimes throw caution to the wind (yes I swear it's "caution!") and sometimes eat taco bell, so gas is bad all the time. 😜
I'll never understand why people want to "save the coal industry". Given how many people die from just exposure to coal work, it's just insane. But, it shows you the power of money and those in industries that have money to pump out misinformation and corrupt the message. Sometimes I can't wait for that earth-ending comet...
They call it "rolling coal" and sometimes refer to the vehicles as "bro-dozers". I once had my vehicle unplugged from a charging station, and I'm not sure if it was done by someone lashing out at me or what. Our apartment complex will tow a vehicle that is parked at a charging station and I suspect that maybe someone that was towed has ill-will towards the EV population at my complex. I'm actually looking forward to seeing the EV trucks hit the market so that they can be used to drag these things out of the way.

Oh I know how bad they are. I live in the state where these same type of knuckledraggers harassed a political bus carrying party workers for a party that they didn't agree with.

I'm probably in the extreme minority here and generally among EV buyers in that I'm a Republican (and no, not one of the ones that isn't really). It isn't that his question isn't valid, it is that it is that a) that isn't a reason to stop progress, and b) there are many more trends along with the evolution of technology that are going to be significantly more problematic. For example, when cars and trucks can be driverless and/or drone deliveries take off a huge number of people are going to find themselves without jobs. People will adapt, as they always have. I will note that I'm working to get people to do various house related tasks and it is very hard due to labor shortages.
