Go into the app and set ‘Charge & Climate’ settings. Turn on precondition for departure and set days and departure time.

On mine, the heated steering wheel function button is at the bottom centre of the steering wheel boss, below the airbag. It was an optional extra on my ‘23 M50.

Thats where i was looking, no button on the steering wheel. I had the button same location on my X3. Guess i dont have the feature ? Figured maybe all of it was digitally on the iDrive screen now….

got it - on the preconditioning. I set it in app for my next departure, lets see when i get in the car later.

 

In 2025, the button was removed from the steering wheel. If you have the feature, it should be in the climate settings. (Sorry, I don't know specifically where as my car has the physical button.)

To precondition, using the app, choose the "fan" icon. It should then tell you car is heating or cooling (depending on the temperature). On mine, that runs the seat heaters, the heated steering wheel, and the heat to warm the car.

Heated seats are standard, heated steering wheel is optional, in the US.
Do you have the Premium Package?
Heated steering wheel is part of the premium package or a $200 stand alone option according to the BMW configurator.

Premium package varies slightly depending on what model, but seems to have the HUD (Heads up display) and Harmon Kardon audio in all cases.
