Just had my new wheels mounted this morning! VMR V802 flow formed wheels 19x8.5 ET 25 and 19x9.5 ET 35 in anthracite metallic. Just picking them up I could tell there's at least a 5 lb difference with each wheel, even though the rears are half an inch wider. Stock hankook tires fit just fine. The metallic finish looks great, even driving through rain and gunk today they look more shiny and not "dirty". Big thanks to Brandon at VMR for hooking up a great deal!

Up next is a CF spoiler install, black badges, and ceramic coat on Monday. Then tints the following Monday. Will plan for more pics and a dedicated photo shoot when it's a little more complete. So far looking great! Love this car!

I am torn between silver or gunmetal color in the VMR V710's

I'd personally do gunmetal, or the titanium black color, if available

VMR's hyper silver finish is really nice, but I think on a red car like yours, gunmetal would look better. That's just my opinion though. You could also check out the V710FF, their flow formed version of those wheels which are lighter and stronger. They come in matte graphite, gunmetal, and a couple other colors. If you email brandon @ velocitymotoring.com and tell him Andre sent you, he'll give you a good discount off retail.

A set of V710's ordered yesterday morning. Went for 8.5x19et25 and 9.5x19et40. I measured how the et33 in the rear would have been and in my opinion it was possibly so that the side of the tire would have been a bit outside the fender. That I don't like. Rather a couple of mm's inside that protruding.

Finally the car is finished. The lowering is made with AC Schnitzer springs.

The wheels are forged 19" 8.5 ET25 with 245/40/19 101Y Michelin Pilot Sport tires all around.

They said that it will get a bit lower in the front when the springs settle.

Love it! I’m a big noob on wheels, and I think these look amazing. Which brand are those?

I weighed the wheels. V710s 8,5s are 12,5kg and the 9,5s are 12,7kg. The OEM 859s are both 13,4kg

Hello everybody,

I've been reading through the thread and various other sites and to be honest, I don't think I'm any closer to understanding which wheels fit this car and which tires fit said wheels.

I have a 2022 i4 M50 with the 20" BMW 868M wheels (8.5x20 ET 35 front, 10x20 ET 42 back). The car has the extended rear wheel archers for what it's worth. I'd like to buy a second set of wheels to be used with winter tires. I've been looking at BBS CI-R Unlimited. The BBS recommended sizes are:

9x19 ET29 / 10.5x19 ET32 or 9x19 ET37 / 9x19 ET37

I'm thinking about pairing the wheels with Nokia Hakkapeliitta R5 winter tires. These tires are available in:

245/40 R 19 98T XL (load rating 750 kg) or 255/40 R 19 100T XL (load rating 800 kg).

Are these wheels compatible? Should I opt for the squared or staggered setup? Which tires?

Thank you in advance!

Check out the winter tire threads. You'll learn a lot more there. Also, review the Car and Driver article about using non-BMW Star winter tires on the i4 and the negative outcomes.

@i4m50Norway will have some input on Nordic tires, but as far as I know, there are no Nordic winter star-rated tires for the i4.

@Jeppe5432 IMO, a 19x8.5 (or 19x9) square setup with 255/40 R 19 is the way to go on an M50 the larger calipers. You just need to be sure the wheels have the appropriate load rating.

Check out my build thread for pics of my winter setup with 19x8.5 et25 and 255/40 R 19 tires all around (+15mm rear spacers) to get an idea of fitment on an M50 with wheel arches. it would be comparable to a 19x9 et31 FYI.

Hello and thank you for the replies. I really don't think I need star rated tires - I drove last winter with the ****tiest winter tires imaginable and had no real issues.

I inquired BBS about the load rating, I can't make any sense of the German documentation provided.

From my calculations, the BBS wheels would sit 6 mm more inward in the front and 21 mm more inward in the rear in comparison to the setup toosteley mentions above. In comparison to my current wheels, the front wheels would sit 4 mm wider in the front and 11 mm narrower in the back.

Get the BBS CI-R Unlimited in their squared 19” set - 19x8.5et32 Concave 1- with 255/40R19 for your i4 M50 winter tire application.

That’s it.

An update to my prior post.. SV-F never got back to me, so I've decided to go in a different direction.

Plan on grabbing some VMR wheels in 19x8.5 ET35 and 19 x 9.5 ET40 and swap over the stock summer tires. The front tires will fit perfectly, the rears will have to stretch a half inch more, but a 255/40 tire is fine on 9.5" rims. Front wheels will fit exactly like stock, while the rears will poke out 1/3 of an inch more, which isn't bad at all.

VMR flow forged wheels are about 8-10 lbs lighter than the stock wheels from what I gather, which should reduce unsprung weight significantly which is always great for performance and efficiency. The one minor snag is that they're officially rated for 765 kg/1686lb which is cutting it a bit close if you're looking at the 1700 lb recommendation above.. but I'm not too worried. They should be stronger than cast wheels, plus based on the manual, there's 260 lb of breathing room per wheel on the front axle, and only about 20 lb "overweight" per wheel on the rear. I am sure there are certain tolerances built in to the recommendations.

Then I figure I'll use the stock 861M wheels for winter, grab a square set of 245/40r19 tires. Won't have to worry about buying another set of wheels, and while I usually prefer smaller wheels for winter, I don't plan on driving through mountain blizzards so should be fine.

Now the question is... what VMR wheel and color works best with Portimao Blue? I love bronze, but it might looks a little too "subaru STI" in the blue/bronze combo. Hyper silver always looks great and is safe, but gunmetal also has me intrigued...

These are hyper silver V710's on a Portimao M3 in a pic I stole form bimmerpost:

EDIT - interestingly, VMR cast wheels are actually rated for 850 kg in their 19" size, which is plenty for this car, and they're cheaper than the flow formed ones. Unfortunately, they're also about has heavy as the stock wheels so I'd lose the benefit of having lighter wheels. Hmm...
what did you end up doing? I think I want hyper silver wheels to offset my black i4m50.

It’s been a long wait… but my custom forged wheels are here! Getting them fitted this week…. Love the custom etching with the vin.. 800kg if anyone is curious…

Gorgeous! I was thinking about going with this style as well. Square setup?

Looking forward to seeing them on the car!
