Has anyone used either BC or BU to remove the speed limiter function to enable text entry while in motion? I would think that this option would be located under the expert section. Where would you find this option?

I think I saw this in BU in the regular section, but I'm afraid I don't remember where. I can likely check over the weekend as long as I find time to get to it!

In BimmerCode it is in the expert menu options.

I removed all the speed limit functions for viewing texts, entry, etc.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to keep the carpet lights on while driving?
By which you mean the lights which light up the ground outside the vehicle when we approach it?

If you happen to be looking at your codes, please let me know what the startup is in the i4 by default? Is it BMW i, BMW, or BMW (2021)? I'm trying to get the startup and shutdown tones back, and so far haven't succeeded. Thanks!

I noticed yesterday that my ambient lighting has switched back to citrine and no longer uses the custom color I had created. Anyone else see that? I suppose it could’ve happened after the upgrade, but I thought I had coded it after the update.

Apparently, someone on Bimmerpost got TLA working using eSys. @Techwhiz1 said he'd try it in BimmerUtility when he gets back from vacation. Really really excited for this, and hoping it can be done! So envious of Europeans seeing traffic light and traffic sign info in their instrument cluster/HUD. Having cruise control auto stop for red lights would be really cool too, even if unreliable and requires intervention.

Could also be because I'm using both Bimmercode and BimmerUtility. Finding the lighting in BU was a challenge today (never did find it).

I've read through this awesome discussion and it seems that bimmerutlity is worth getting if
  1. don't want to recode after every update
  2. access to VO coding
What does 2 get you specifically? Are there specific functions people have coded in Bimmerutility that they can't in Bimmerode? I've heard people mentioning things like traffic light assist but do those work? I've never coded laserlights before but may try that soon. Should I use BU or BC?

And then it would be awesome if anyone can post a guide or quickstart to using BU

Does this work with Bimmer Utility? and it Bimmer Utility a little more user friendly than Bimmer Code or are they just pretty much the same animal.

That one is BLE so it wont work. BU only supports ENET or ENET wi-fi adapters
you will need to use one of the OBD adapters that we support. Please note that we only offer assistance for ENET cables or ENET Wi-Fi adapters
I'd say it's easier to just buy the one they sell on their website.

I don’t believe so, unless there’s a way to change the geo-blocked features. I recall other members saying that certain features enable/disable when they cross the border, like the ones you mentioned, as well as traffic light/sign recognition, etc. I’d love to get traffic sign/light recognition to work. I saw some videos in Europe where they get yield/stop signs in their HUD. We don’t get that in North America :(
Apparently, it also seems brand dependant. Had the option on my Mercedes as well and that worked, but not enabled on the i4?

Hi all,

I would like to give BU a shot and have two questions to start.

It says it runs on PC and mobile. Is a PC needed for initial setup, or can the whole thing be done on an iphone?

The license fee is about $100. Is this per year, or is it a permanent license?

Thanks

George

You do not need a PC and the license is for all platforms .

It's a permanent/perpetual license.

There're a lot of things can be done, like coding your dash display as M3 dash display, but it would also break something along the way since it wasn't designed to display it on the i4. Here's someone coded his i3 (China full electric G20 3 series) to M3 display...
Do you happen to know the original source?
Tried looking on xiaohongshu but couldn't find any more information.

It seems that the values on the cluster correlate to an electric vehicle (power, KW,), but I can't find the exact coding in BU nor BC.

Likely for reliability. ENET (wired) is much more reliable. I've had my Bluetooth OBD2 VLink disconnect at times and I was just using it for ABRP live data. Just get the ENET wired adapter.

For coding anti-dazzle with BU, do I just need to uncheck 5AP in VO? Do I need to reboot the car or anything after?

I looked into TLA - looks like in NA it’s a bad idea due to differences in stoplight placement (sounds like TLA would have the car stop IN the intersection)?
