Let's talk about how BimmerUtility is working on the i4. I plan to pick it up soon, but know others have or will shortly use it, like @Techwhiz1 and @larbel.
PSI got Bimmerutility and managed to open the FA list and delete 5AP, by clicking the box with a check mark. To my surprize the box did not remain empty, but the whole 5AP item disappeared. I had expected that I would have been able to undo the action.
Then belatedly I found a way to save the configuration.
I exited the program then reentered to see whether the change remained and it did.
Last night I went out to test it on a dark road. The auto high beams worked as before. I still get the nice low beam adjustment to just below the hood line, but now beam splitting.
Interesting, the car picked up lights on the roof on a store up ahead and adjusted the lowbeams to the roofline of the store.
I am a bit out of my depth for future tinkering. Can anyone explain what option I need to add now to get the beam splitting and how to add it in BU?
Also exactly how to save and restore my current configuration?
Much thanks, vielen Dank, merci beaucoup, etc.
I'm not following what you're trying to accomplish... it seems like you've gotten it working?I got Bimmerutility and managed to open the FA list and delete 5AP, by clicking the box with a check mark. I would like to enable the laser antidazzle function.I'm not following what you're trying to accomplish... it seems like you've gotten it working?
The bimmerutility.com web page lets you ask for texh support. I saw somewhere a long list of compatible OBD adapters that are supported. Is BimmerUtility able to access the headunit on iDrive 8.5? BimmerCode falls short unfortunately.
Any way I can test this out using my OBDLink CX?
My current understanding is that coding will only be possible when connected to the BMW cloud services. Is BimmerUtility able to access the headunit on iDrive 8.5? BimmerCode falls short unfortunately.

Is that something I can do myself? My current understanding is that coding will only be possible when connected to the BMW cloud services.

Only BMW/dealer with BMW permission can make changes to 8.5.Is that something I can do myself?
Has Bimmercode confirmed this to be true?Only BMW/dealer with BMW permission can make changes to 8.5.
8.5 uses the same cloud system that iX uses so no Bimmercode has not confirmed nor has Bimmerutility but no one has been able to code iX except for some small simple items thus far so it's safe to say it wont work.Has Bimmercode confirmed this to be true?
BimmerCode does not have the full PSdZData. BimmerUtility does… mostly. So BimmerCode will not allow you to access several of the ECU’s. BimmerUtility is a more complete product. For those of you who have used both BimmerCode and BimmerUtility, is there a preference one way or the other? Are you also employing Esys and PSdZData?
I certainly hope not in regards to stability control. Is there access to torque curves and stability control?
I was thinking the same thing... sounds like a terrible idea.I certainly hope not in regards to stability control.
But it was Your idea!
when you say “speed/power screen” are you talking about the left side of the display, behind the steering wheel, where the drivers display is located?Does this tool allow the colours to be changed on the Speed/Power screen, I hate the wishy washy colours that come as default. I used Bimmercode to change my X3 colours to Alpina which were a lot better, not seen any option in Bimmercode to do this.
