The net can easily fit a 46L Clevermade collapsible create under it and it stops it from sliding. Perfect for groceries.

I saved some money buying the cargo net here.

 

If you just need to protect the interior from spills or messy cargo, I bought a commercial 4 ft x 6 ft rubber-backed mat. I used a razor blade to trim it to fit. (It's very easy to cut.) When the seats are up, I just fold the extra over itself. When the seats are down, it folds out and covers them nicely. This works excellent for protecting the back area from dog claws, dog hair, and snow/salt/dirt that's attached to cargo that gets thrown back there. (Hockey bags, packing for holidays, motocross gear, etc.)

And at any time, you can just pull it out and vacuum it with a normal household vacuum or hose it down if it's particularly bad.

 

I have the trunk mat myself and I have found it to be one of the best ones around. I had the one for my Audi etron and Porsche Macan, those just seems like plastic liners that ultimately made your stuff just roll around. The BMW is just enough grip without being too much where you can’t get your stuff out

 

I have the rubber mat and a net. Works great.

 

That picture confirms the mat I was given last month for my i4 e35 is wrong (my i4 was a dealer order vehicle and came with accessories). It is rectangular and doesn't fit the cargo area very well.

This gives me ammo to point out it is wrong so they can't play dumb.

@Joe. thanks for your post. That looks very good too. Would definitely work out for me when I need to transport my roadbike. But I'll most likely go with the BMW solutions as they do look very well executed.

 

The BMW rubber cargo mat definitely keeps items back there from sliding around. That said the solution that @joe.r came up with certainly is elegant.

 

I bought the cargo mat from Weather Tech. Saves some cash and fits great.

 

I have the all weather cargo mat and it's great so far... It does prevent things moving around. Prevented any dirt from loading up several bags of top soil. I cleaned it up by hosing it down after. It's a really great option. Now that I realize you can also use the net with that, I might get one. Travel for Christmas seems to always remind me that cargo nets are useful.

 

Placed and order for both the BMW Cargo Mats and Net. Apparently out of stock in my area. Shucks. Have to wait.

 

Anyone got a part number for the i4 all weather trunk mat-thing?
