I just purchased my eDrive35 last week and the dealer contacted me offering these wheel packages (including TPMS) on clearance for $3095 CAD. No idea what these wheel models are. The tires are Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 245/45/R18 100V extra load. Appear to have been manufactured in 2022.

I do not need them now, but I will need them next winter since I am in Canada. Is it a good deal? How much worse will the range be without aero wheels?

Good deal? Not really. Average (unless that's taxes in).

I've used PA4 winter tires on my last 2 vehicles. If you don't get a lot of snow/ice in your area, they're great. They are a performance winter tire and more intended for cold/wet pavement. In snow, the forward and stopping grip is good, but lateral grip isn't fantastic. Again, all depends on the type of winter driving you'll be doing.

We typically have mild winters in Kelowna, but since the car is RWD I would like to get tires that have maximum grip on snow and ice. Maybe the Michelin X-Ice Snow would be a better option. Maybe I will get a price for those wheels with a different tire.

Still also considering getting aero wheels for winter. I am assuming there are not many good aftermarket options?

That's probably a decent deal for Michelin winters.... but they can be had cheaper if you don't need OEM BMW rims... I will be gettng these: installation is free, I believe TPMS is $35/wheel. My wife has Kumho wintes on her q7 and they are fine. I don't need them either right away, so it's just sitting in my cart right now. but I think you could save $800 by going replica rims and getting them online. Quick math puts it at about $2100cdn plus tax for the kumhos. Michelins might be $2500 plus tax.

under $6 shipped all the way from the PRC

I expect the impact of non-aero wheels to be minuscule compared to the loss to low temperatures. I wish I had those wheels!

Those look like Replika wheels. They're aftermarket, made by Fast Wheels, but designed to look similar to genuine BMW wheels so they don't look out of place. They're also designed to use the same lug bolts as stock wheels. Are you at Kelowna BMW, by chance? I know they use Replika for their packages. I've been using them for a number of years now, and they seem like good quality wheels (but I bought mine online from PMC Tire, because they were able to do better than the dealer price).

The Pilot Alpin PA4 is a performance winter tire. It'll do fine in mild winter conditions, and it's probably absolutely fantastic on cold dry pavement. If you live (or travel) somewhere that gets really cold, you might find that you'd be better served by a "Nordic" type winter tire, such as the Michelin X-Ice Snow. The X-Ice won't provide as much grip or feel on good roads, but will do better when conditions are tough.

Thanks for the info. It is Kelowna BMW.

I think I might also order the wheels myself and pair them with X-Ice Snow tires. I am willing to sacrifice dry pavement handling to be safer in the occasional blizzard we get here.

Did you get the tire pressure sensors from BMW or go with aftermarket?

As a note, PMC Tire's website doesn't appear to have correct information about the i4, and might tell you that 18" wheels won't fit. I have the Replika R198 installed on my M50, so if it fits my car, you can be pretty confident it'll fit yours :)

I will have some factory 854 (7.5Jx18) with the stock 225/50-18 tires coming on my e40 which is at the port in Germany. I will be having those wheel/tires taken off and replaced at dealer delivery. I know folks are using these wheels for snow tires and I live in San Diego so I will be looking to sell this set...

I ended up ordering these tires from PMCtire in Quebec today.

I had to online chat with one of their representatives to get the order to go through...(their online configurator doesn't seem to have all the right wheels lined up.

These are the specs on the wheels.

I believe Wunsch from SK is also running this set.

Those do indeed look like my wheels! The only difference is that I went with narrower 225/50R18 tires on them. The wheels are a bit narrower than stock (and with an offset that compensates for the narrowness), so they're perfect for 225 tires.

#30 ·
Have you thought about running spacers in the rear, or does the square setup look fine?

#31 ·
The square setup looks quite fine to me. I seem to recall that the offset on the wider rear wheels of the staggered summer setup compensates for the width by moving the wider tire inward, so everything balances out. If you look at my thread about my drive home, you can see a few pictures with these wheels mounted :)

my wheels and tires arrived yesterday from PMC tire.... I got an additional $40 discount, because there is a tiny mark on one of the rims near the bead... (the mark is small so I took the discount instead of getting another rim.)

the BMW centercap logo from Aliexpress fits perfectly.

any chance you have a picture of the rims with the 225/50R18 on them? I’ve got the base eDrive 40 and that is the stock size of tire that came with the car. I’m curious as to how they look on a rim that is 1/2” wider than stock.
The R198 is a good looking rim and currently my top choice!

You can see some pictures of them on my car in this thread:

Is there anything else more specific you're looking for?

Given that I’m a weirdo, I just ordered some winter tires and wheels even though my car hasn’t been built yet. At least I’ll be prepared! I’m mentioning it in this thread because I learned about the Replika wheels here (Thank you!) and decided I wanted them. Sorry to be a copycat, but the wheels from BMW are crazy expensive and I didn’t really like the ones I was seeing on TR and the like.

This Canadian company ships free to the US. How cool is that?

I’ll be putting Michelin X-Ice snows on these puppies. Then I’ll just need the car. And some frigid weather and snow/ice.

I had my winter tires and wheels (same as you're looking at) well before the car too. It's not weird, is it? Hehe

Decided to order a package from Fitment Industries. Now I’m just trying to decide if I should go 225/50/18 or 245/45/18. I suppose with the skinnier option, range and comfort will be better but handling will suffer. Then the reverse for going wider.
I debated that a lot too, before ordering mine. And then I drove through some thick slush with my previous car, and remembered how much a narrower tire helps with thick slush and thick snow. Narrower tires are in theory also better on ice. Add to that the fact that the narrower tire will give you a bit of a improvement to range to make up for what the cold weather takes away, and it just makes sense. I'm happy with my choice.

The R198 is a good choice for 225/50/18 tires, because it's a bit narrower but has the offset to compensate for that and give you the same appearance (and airflow) down the side of the car.

Well, that was a bust. They canceled my order, saying they don’t ship to US after all. I mentioned they should update the wording on their site! Haha.
