I finally got my BMW i4 M50 last Saturday after a horrible dealership experience and a long wait (I ordered it in August 2021). I loved driving the car for the first few days. Today I set out on my first long drive (going to my great-grandmother's funeral) and stopped to charge about 1.5 hours away from home. I charged it to 95% to prepare for the 3 hour drive, and as soon as I pulled back onto the interstate I had a "drivetrain malfunction" message pop up on the screen. Immediately after that, I received a "power supply" message that noted I should stop immediately and that it was unsafe to drive. I pulled over and called BMW assist, they called a tow truck that took 2 hours to get there. When the tow truck got there my car had just stopped working completely, which I found very strange. The first hour of waiting for the tow truck I sat in the car and everything was on, the buttons all worked, it was drivable, etc. But after the first hour, my husband came and got me, and we sat in his car and waited for the tow truck. And when the tower tried to turn the car on to shift it into neutral it was completely dead. No lights, no power, key wouldn't open the trunk, nothing.. So they had to drag my brand new car onto the flatbed (I died a little inside). Anyway, it finally arrived at my dealership like 5 hours after the initial breakdown. They have no idea what caused it and are going to have some BMW techs come in and look at it. They gave me a ****ty little 3 series that smells like someone puked in it to compensate for missing my great grandma's funeral and having my brand-new car die after 3 days. I'm bummed. Has anyone had a similar experience?
