Mine moved just fine, but I had to reset it to my BMW ID in the car. I did the migration phone to phone from a 14 Pro to a 15 Pro Max.

 

Iphone 15 Pro max, activated digital keys no issues. Took both keys got into car whole activation took less than a few minutes

 

Do it from the app while you’re in the car. I was having the same issue with my phone and watch. Working perfectly now

 

lol, as the original post said i tried initiating the process both from the app and from the idrive touchscreen. obviously from inside the car as that's the only place that has an idrive touchscreen. neither worked. both fobs present. both fobs have good batteries.

 

I’m having the same problem. I just switched to iPhone 15 pro max. It’s not pairing with the digital key.

 

let me know if you figure anything out. mine's still not paired. the only thing i haven't tried is resetting everything that i changed with bimmercode. wondering if maybe playing with that did anything.

 

Do you see the BMW key in your Wallet on the iPhone? Does it fail at a particular step of the process?

 

No, the key wasn’t in the wallet after the move to the new phone. The process fails when it tells you to put your phone in the tray. The progress bar gets about half way and fails.

 

Just because I have to ask... have you done the triple-boot reset of iDrive?

 

As the subject says, I got a new iPhone, it pairs fine, CarPlay, etc., but can’t activate digital key on it. I did the digital key reset in the car. Tried initiating the digital key from the mybmw app and from the idrive touchscreen both. Each time it gets about halfway done and errors out and says to try resetting (which I did multiple times). Anyone else see this? Has anyone else moved from an older iPhone (14 pro in this case) to a 15 pro max successfully or unsuccessfully? For now I guess I’m living with it…

I am experiencing the same issue with my 2024 X5. Digital key was working perfectly fine on my iPhone 13 but after “upgrading” to iPhone 15, it wouldnt pair anymore!

 

Update! Installed the OTA last night (07/2023.53). Tried to activate digital key this morning. Worked first try.

 

Mine had a long story. Took my car to BMW dealership, they said car is fine and my cell phone is the problem. Went to apple store, they ran some test and turned out car’s wireless charger has damaged all NFC chips in my cell. They replaced them (not right away of course!) and now virtual key is working. Apparently this is an issue with iPhone 15 (cell heats up too much in wireless tray causing damage to the chips) that is now resolved with new iOS update.
