Hi Folks,
I've been following this forum since before I received my i4 mid-May 2022 in Aberdeen, Scotland (i4 M50, Aventura Red III with Cognac interior, & 20" 868 M-Sport wheels, now with 6.7K miles), and have been really pleased with the car since then.
In general I've few complaints, but from experience of previous BMWs (6th car in a row) there are a few things which maybe should have been left alone (in my opinion) - won't go into that here as already mentioned previously by others.
Anyway, I recently returned the car to my BMW dealer to check a few issues, with the following being the most significant to others on the forum:
It's sometime noticed when the car is stationary and in Drive, behind another vehicle (so the flashing is visible on the rear of the other vehicle), with the headlights set to any AHO dipped, manual dipped, or Auto Headlights (not actively managing the lights due to the car speed and in town), so at the time the headlights were in the LED Matrix mode. It appears to be the inner headlight of each side flashing on and off in no set pattern.
I suggested to the dealer (showing them a video of the flashing) that it may be caused by water ingress to a connector, but was told that they aren't allowed to touch any component unless it a specified procedure from BMW.
I was also told that they had only been able to reproduce the issue by pouring water over the windscreen sensor, which likely caused light distortion at the sensor and flickering/flashing of the headlights. This was not something that they could fix, and likely due to the sensor 'new technology' being confused by the distorted light.
My last few BMWs have all had the latest adaptive LED matrix headlights, and this has never been an issue for me in the past so I'm questioning this explanation. I've over 40-years experience as an electrical/electronics technician, and don't think BMW would allow release of a lighting system with such an issue which could easily result in a police stop for potentially faulty headlights.
I therefore plan to raise the issue further with the dealer management / BMW UK (as appropriate), after taking a bit better quality video during the next rain storm, but wanted to hear of anyone else's similar problem before I'm told "your's is the only car with the problem".
Thanks all,
Kevin

Anyway, I recently returned the car to my BMW dealer to check a few issues, with the following being the most significant to others on the forum:
- Front motor plastic cover rubbing on bonnet/hood paintwork, wearing on paint (noticed when refilling screenwash bottle) - Needed cover resecuring before paint worn through.
- Laserlight Headlights flickering/flashing intermittently in medium to heavy rain at night - Reportedly caused by rain running over the sensor on the windscreen and confusing the 'new' system.
