Interested to hear about this - we use Amazon Music, rather than Spotify; would rather not switch/pay for additional, so curious what is 'included'/provided.

 

You can play anything from your device(s). They just have some built-in iDrive apps (like Spotify).

 

I think it is just a built-in separate app if you don't want to use Carplay Spotify or BT streaming but why need premium to just login?

Data for streaming yes.

But the built in spotify use a higher streaming quality (actually you can hear the difference between built-in and CarPlay Spotify) and this could be the reason that spotify said premium only.

 

Didn't know it streams in higher quality that explains premium login requirement. So that means all data are going through BMW built in data service, it will be good for people with limited phone data plan.

 

So, the 'built in' app will mean I don't need my phone with me, for example? Sure that was how it worked in my 7 series, which was occasionally handy if just nipping to the shops or something.

Correct on both counts...

 

With the Spotify app in the car BMW offers you the connection and unrestricted streaming service, but the subscription must be your premium account. With 03/2022 it was working with 07/2022 it doesn’t accept any input neither trough the touch screen nor Idrive…. Do not know if it’s a specific problem i have or if it is a problem everybody has……

 

It works well with 07/22. Logout/Login? Or disconnect it on the website and reconnect it?
