Electric Principal has a YouTube video of a 2025 ioniq 5 with a NACS port charging at a non magic dock super charger.
Indeed. He got lucky being at a beta site or Hyundai already has access, or only 2025s have immediate access. Still, access for all Hyundais coming soon.

Volkswagen and MBenz just got access. I don't really want to use the Tesla network, but will in case of emergency when it is available. Last few long distance trips, I had no issues with EA or dealership DC charging.

VW and Merc will get access later this year - Feb for Merc and July for VW if all goes to plan. Agree EA has gotten a lot better. Dealer DC charging usually slow, turned off, behind locked gate, or broken, in my experience.

I guess we got lucky with the dealer charging. Met some really nice folks (employees) at a Chevrolet dealer, they loved our i4 and showed us the new electric offerings from Chevy, quite nice for the price and I hope they have luck selling them. Ford dealer was also nice. Fortunately if we were unable to charge at any of them, there were multiple around to choose from. I used Plugshare to find them, and as you most likely know, you can filter the slow chargers from the fast ones.

I wish.
VAG isn’t slated until June. And even that is more of an offhand comment from VAG rather an official timeline from Tesla.

Fortunately we have quite a few Magic Docks in the Northeast. But the Tesla V3 stations along I-91 in Vermont have remained exclusive to Tesla, for entirely unknown reasons. And those nice Rivian stations that were implied last spring to be opening up will remain exclusive to Rivian (with only new stations offering universal access).

Ford dealerships have been opening stations that could in theory be good. But since Ford forced them upon the independently owned dealerships, that DGAF factor has resulted in ICEing by dealer cars, and broken chargers that take weeks to fix.

The one good NEVI station in VT experiences frequent handshake problems, but fortunately it’s so poorly cited that a frustrated driver has many other available chargers from which to choose.

In Deerfield MA at an ideal location along I-91 a station opened with two 640kW chargers, or 320kW if both plugs at each station are in use. Despite $2.46m in federal funding, the actual delivery from an unshared 640kW only briefly gets above even 100kW.

It's up to the states to apply and use the money. The funding is there, but it doesn't mean it's been spent, then it's up to the states to actually do something about it.

Yes, first the states are required to prepare extensive reports that are the ultimate example of Paralysis By Analysis. I’ve read some of them. What a waste of time, effort, and money. But great business opportunities for all the engineering and other consulting firms.

Then after a long RFP timeline etc an award is finally made. To a firm whose only interest is in collecting the federal dollars. Reliability for actual charging?

I’m going to get a lawn sign made with this slogan:

The last rumor I’ve seen say Hyundai access in Q1 2025. So does that mean this month?

Will that include Genesis and Kia? That would leave just BMW and JLR in the pending list.

the suspense is unbearable…

DIdn't JLR buy back several thousand I-Paces? Maybe that's all the I-Paces? BMW should jump the queue if that's true. Still, BMW has indicated it wants to sell us its approved adapter, so we'll have to wait for that to available first before there is any hope TSCN access. On a related note, why does BMW no currently sell an official AC J3400-J1772 adapter?

Don’t Tesla and third parties sell adapters for destination chargers? Those should be J3400 to J1772.

I have not heard any issue about non-compatible destination chargers. We have had destination charger access for years and BMW did not send us any info about incompatible adapters.

Tesla no, others, yes. But I am surprised BMW doesn't want to sell us the OEM BMW J3400/J1772 AC adapter. Not a biggie - my A2Z 80 amp AC adapter works fine.

Never heard of an incompatible adapter. Just haven't heard of the official BMW approved/sold adapter.

Is there an OEM BMW J3400 to J1772 adapter?
No. That is the reason I mentioned it. BMW indicated in a letter last year that it wants us to use the "official" OEM BMW J3400/CCS1 adapter for DCFC at TSCN, so I am surprised it wouldn't want to also offer/sell us an OEM J3400/J1772 AC adapter. I honestly don't care that much but it seems BMW is leaving some money on the table here.

Or saving the cost of developing a device without a large market.

Maybe. BMW could probably put its name on a third party adapter and sell it for a profit. I bet there are other "BMW" products that don't cost BMW anything to develop.

Exactly -- no car manufacturer (besides Tesla) manufacturers its own EVSE. And many of them contract with Lectron or A2Z to just put their logo on what is also sold as aftermarket EVSE.
