I'm considering buying some winter tires for my rear wheel drive, eDrive40. But I'm wondering if I will have room with the back seats down to transport four 18 inch tires in the car from the tire shop to home.

I bet you will. I do with my G20 (two in the back seat, two in the trunk). I don't know why you wouldn't be able to do it!

Hmmmmm............... I wonder how I can know for sure. Don't want to get to the tire shop and find out I don't have the room, LOL.

It could fit but tires are dirty, you will want to lay down plenty of covers to protect the leather and trim. I would avoid at all costs, if It were me.

TireRack ships direct to installers and I believe one of their main distribution hubs is in Nevada. A great option if you haven't explored yet.

I agree with ssh. I bet they'll fit. My M340i had stock 19's on summer rubber and I swapped them myself seasonally with 18" winter wheels/tires. I usually transported the off-set in the M340i to/from our storage unit; 2 in the trunk, 2 in the back seats (folded down). No issues. I actually once transported all four 19's in the back seat for 5+ hours when we moved to a different state and the trunk was full. Tight fit, but worked.

As ssh says, from the shopping & grocery trips in the i4 thus far, I can't imagine them NOT fitting.

Pick up some tire totes if you're worried about getting the trunk dirty. I also like to take the swap opportunity to thoroughly clean the off-tires of brake dust and grime anyway.

I can let you know for sure in about a month when I go get the winter set with my i4. :)

Yeah, Discount gave me a set of Cooper tire carriers years ago and I've continued to use them... Kinda like these:

Tire Rack doesn't have winter wheel & tire packages yet for the i4 with M Sport brakes, so was hoping to find suggestions here. If possible, I'd like to switch to 18in wheels square for winter here in New England, with the best snows I can find. With our roads, I'd really rather have 18's that I can rotate yearly. But I'm still having a hard time figuring out how to properly research which wheels will fit. I definitely want a wheel/tire package, much simpler to swap the whole thing rather than remounting all the time.

I have a '22 eDrive40, M Sport variable sport steering, M Sport 19" M Aero wheels 860M, and the Dynamic Handling pacakge (M Sport brakes/adaptive suspension).

I got to this site, which seems to suggest that 18x8.5 ET 36 wheels with 245/45 R18 tires will fit - only being off by 1mm in two ways - but is there anything else I'm missing to ensure fitment?

Thanks in advance for suggestions! I'm hoping to stay a little cheaper than the BMW sold 859 Y-Spoke 19in cold weather wheel/tire package available at my dealer...

My dealer says that their parts department will be getting winter wheel/tire packages for '23 i4s sometime in the next few weeks. Maybe ask your dealer/CA what is happening in your area. I too am looking for an 18" square set up as I plan to store my 19" summer performance set in preparation for the snow here in upstate NY . And yes, you can transport four tires in a GT so the i4 should be duck soup. At a test site, I saw drivers load and unload 4 wheel/tire set ups in an M3. Tire covers and some old blankets and you should be golden.

245/45R18 ? 677 mm diameter - maybe possible to put 3 after each other, two to the right and one to the left. at least two more on top should be possible.

Two in the passenger seat - and one as your backsupport - and you have two sets of tires in your car.

Why not buy four axle stands and remove your summer tires - and see if they fit inside the car ?;)
Or buy a roof rack - always useful to have.

Maybe these from Bimmerworld if you are feeling spendy....I would just buy more generic ones for half the price but as others will attest this type of storage cover is awesome... they velcro to fit whatever you put in them and have carry handles.... no brainer for moving and keeping everything clean in storage.

if you are a victim of this summer tire prank BMW pulled on your max range 18" wheels consider these...out of stock right now but apparently there is an all-season with Winter snow rating (a best of both worlds)

The manual says 100 load rating and these are 99 (1709 vs. 1764). But I really like the look of them... However, note the final paragraph especially:
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.
Edit: Looks like the 245/45 R18 would work:

Hmmm well I never have anyone in back seat (and I'm 155lbs) so willing to lean in w/ 44psi back there. No Mt passes just a flatlander with Lake Michigan snows and -0 temps, Blizzaks, Sottozeros... had em all and believe in 'em but I am so tired of winter tires taking up space, requiring other wheels (and TPMS), compounds getting old before tread wears out, changeouts etc. If these are just 10-15% better than All-Season I am sold. Didn't know I could put a 245 on the 8" wide 18" wheel, oh no more range anxiety!
