I own my m50 for 1,5 months now and I think i noticed something.

it could be me who is going crazy but I believe that the quality of the build in Spotify is of a better sound quality than the apple carplay Spotify?

did anyone notice the same thing? I’m using an iPhone SE 2020 model.

Could be the settings on your iPhone, or could be the connection. Are you connecting the phone via USB-c or via Bluetooth?

You are not the only one that has noticed that. Either your phone Spotify app is not set to "Very High" audio quality, and the car Spotify app is, or the car Spotify app is a higher audio quality version of the Spotify phone app.

I'm not exactly sure on how carplay connects to the in car system (wifi or bluetooth) but being that there is the additional element of processing that audio, it can lose some of it's quality through the connection? Which would explain why the built in sounding better than streaming from the phone? Also, I don't know what I'm talking about so I may be very wrong... 😅

Interesting. In my Model 3, the built-in Spotify streaming is definitely lower quality than bluetooth from your phone (set to high). This annoys me greatly.

So - correct me if I am wrong:

The Spotify app in the i4 is separate and not synchronized with your phones Spotify (incl playlist).

If you want to continue to listen to a Spotify track/media from your phone and then in the i4 without search break you need to use carplay.

Just like the installed Spotify app in Sonos. Separate apps with separate playlist memories - but using same Spotify account will of course give you same favorites / shortcuts.

No, its in sync if you use the same account. If you stop your third song at 2:30 on your phone and get in your car the car will play this song at 2:30.

And all your playlists will be there. Yesterday I searched a song on the phone and played it without playlist. When I got into my car the song was there on the Cars Spotify.

I believe the Spotify account used in the car is linked to the BMW ID used? In other words, if it's my wife's profile, can we use her Spotify account, versus mine?

We have very different musical preferences, and in the Tesla, we had to create a new account for the car, because we both drive it, and it was really screwing with our listening models. :) (Tesla has recently allowed for multiple Spotify accounts to help with this.)
