In case anyone is having difficulty making the wireless charger work with their Pixel 6 or 6P phones..

The tilted position of the phones due to the camera notch seems to prevent the wireless charger from engaging. As a user of one of these phones, I thought I had spend $250 on a useless wireless charger until I came across this post in the bimmerpost forum. The Peak Design case recommended in the thread works great. It neutralizes the notch bump and has some magnet for magsafe alignment. I believe the combination of these two do the trick for making the wireless charger work with these phones.

This is good to know if I move up to a Pixel 6 from my Pixel 4XL. My problem is getting the phone to charge as you have to have it in just the right position to charge. But with the way Android Auto really drains the battery, I've just been using a USB cable to so I can get some decent charging. I'm only using wireless Android Auto for real short trips, anything longer than a half hour, I'm plugging it in. Are you having the same issues with battery drain with Android Auto?

You’re still using wireless Android Auto, by the way. There is no support for wired Android Auto (or CarPlay) in the i4.

There isn’t a MagSafe magnet in the charger, is there? This would be hoping for too much, I’m sure…

Can't verify with the Pixel because the the wiggle room is already just millimeters but I have access to an iPhone and will test it out.

Now I have a Pixel 7 phone and the camera bump and the wireless charger still don't get along. I expect the Peak Design case to still work out fine. This time I bought a Mous brand case (Mous | Protective Phone Cases) and I can confirm that it keeps the blue light on. About the shape and the texture of the case though I can't say the biggest fan.

Thanks for the update regarding the Pixel 7. I was thinking about upgrading to the 7 from my Pixel 4XL. I'm using a dBrand case. But at least you have confirmed that the Pixel 7 will work with iDrive 8 and the i4. Thanks!!

This thread is making me feel less bad that I was unable to get wireless charging in my i4 (my dealer said "we can custom-build you a car that'll arrive in six months, or you can buy a vehicle that's scheduled to arrive in 10 days where the original buyer has backed out"). I use my Pixel 6 without a case, and if I needed to get a case to enable wireless charging, that'd be very annoying.
