Great information. I have another question, what does the ///// mean in the charging rate meter. 2 Calls to "genius" has no clue (person answering the EV specialty line never charged one), and emails to BMW have gone unanswered. I know it's saying that charging rate is restricted, but by what/why. Is it the car, is it the charger, or something else. The number of /// can be none or a lot, it varies during the charging session. I do consistently get two // when charging on my 9kw A/C charger at home.

FWIW I've heard it both ways from various youtube reviewer. 1 said the dashes mean the station is limited. another said it's the max allowed (by the car). I tend to believe that it's the car, why? Because often when I start charging, I get the dashes almost all the way to the left and car charges at 33-40kw. After about 5 minutes, it speeds up to 100+. This is regardless of if the car is at 30% charge or 50% charge. and yes I did navigate to charging station using the nav. To be honest, this only started after I got the .44 OTA update. Before the OTA, I would get any where from 90-100kw as the starting charging rate.

The dashes can actually be either one, which ever is lower. Basically shows the maximum charging speed at the current SOC.
If you are using 250 kW charger by yourself it's only the car's max charge rate at current SOC.
If you are using 150 kW charger by yourself, about 0-40 % SOC it is the limit of the charger and from about 40-100 % SOC it is the car's max charging limit.
If you are using 50 kW charger, most of the charging time it is the limit that the charger can provide.
