Hi!

Does anyone have the "adaptive" button on the center console? The configurator shows that the i4 have it, but i cant figure out if its real or a bug.

Thanks. Planning to use the G0x center console which is black high gloss. The part i have found is with the adaptive mode. Hopefully the car comes with adaptive, or then i have to see if i can get it coded to work.

All i4's come with a blue trimmed drive selector. The image you posted does not appear to be from an i4.
I hope you´re kidding now?

First: I dont talk about the blue accents
Second: I asking for the adaptive button, which the configurator of the i4 shows
Third: ..."photo from an G2x 3-series"....

There are two blank spots for buttons missing in this picture.
1 is for the camera recording
2. is used for ICE cars where when you stop the motor automatically turns off. The button turns on and off that feature.

The blank behind the I-drive controller is where they put the control for the convertible top.

@dspevack I know about the missing buttons on the shown picture, but i wondering about that the i4 M50 configurator shows the "adaptive" button, and the i4 eDrive40 does not. I havent seen the adaptive button on any i4 M50 in real life, so the questions if this is a bug in the configurator or if its a MY 2023 feature.

The blank spot behind the iDrive-controller depends on which equipment and/or model you have. For the X-series are they used by the air suspension. x-offroad package and hill decent control. For the 4-series convertible its used by the soft roof top and heated neck.

@Starlight Thanks.

I just bought this. Will remove the air suspension button, HDC-button and switch the panel for the gear selector (D/S +/- vs. D/B). Then i can do the iDrive-touch retrofit, remove all blue accents and have the buttons in black high gloss instead of the matte.

@Saltkjelen I'm a little confused by a few things you are saying.
1. Are you going to continue using the air suspension/offroad controls, or not?
2. You talked about the touchpad retrofit. Are you absolutely sure that all that is necessary hardware-wise to add back the touchpad is to change out the controller, and there is no other support hardware required?

Thanks,

Dan

Yes, i know, but easy to modify. I can remove everything from this unit over to the OEM i4 M50 center console. From the i4 M50 i will re use the B/D-trim and just add the crystal gear selector. All other switches (the start stop button, DSC/camera/PDC, the driving modes, the hand brake and the iDrive-controller) can be removed and placed in the OEM i4 M50 console. The only issue i can seen if that the i4 M50 does not have the "adaptive" button, so then i have to try get it coded to work or just leave it as a dummy button.

I did black alcantara headliner, soft close door, DSC-button switch and auto dim mirror for the passenger side retrofit on my old i3S so this should be pretty easy to do.

@Saltkjelen Is this mostly a cosmetic change that you're after? As in, you're looking for a particular layout / color combo that the default i4 console doesn't have?

It's not a lot of work but still "work" and I'm curious as to why...?
Yes, its for cosmetic reasons im going to use the high gloss black buttons from G0x X5/X6/X7 and/or 8-series.

I love to modify my BMWs so im going to have a heavily individualized car. OEM individual exterior color and M-sport merino interior in Tartufo. I think both crystal elements and the clossy buttons looks much better than the standard i4.

Hi,

1. No, im not going to use the air suspension controls. If someone make a air suspension setup like the 7-series and X5/X6/X7 i will use it so i can adjust the height.

2. All necessary hardware is the new controller with touch inside. On older cars like F-series/G-series with NBT/NBT EVO/NBT EVO ID5/NBT EVO ID6/MGU iDrive7 it was necessary witht the touch ECU as well. You need to code the new iDrive controller as well.

I figured you‘d use the extra button for passenger eject or something useful like that…

Thanks for reply @gsbaker

If the adaptive mode are controlled by the iDrive8, it should be easy to do some coding to get it work by a button.

A similar thing is with the non DSC-deactivation and DTC-mode in the iDrive for i3/i3S. I did some coding and retrofitted DSC button from i8, so now i can turn DSC off with holding button like all other BMWs and turn on the traction mode by the one click. :)

I'll admit one thing about Mac: I don't miss the blue screen of death.

Right? Or apps hanging the UI for a while. I don’t envy you going back and forth! When I try, I invariably try to get to the menu bar at the top of the screen… I’m definitely a creature of habit!

(I’m also a cybersecurity specialist, so there’s also that…)

Hi!

Does anyone have the "adaptive" button on the center console? The configurator shows that the i4 have it, but i cant figure out if its real or a bug.
I saw some expert can make use of comfort button to change adaptive mode with i4 model,

then I use BU and found under BCD_BODY3, you can assign button with FesPiaDefaultAdaptiveWorldMode.

the default value was 0A

anyone know what value should be changed to make comfort button to have adaptive mode function?
*I check "FesPiaDefaultComfortWorldMode and it's default value is "04", then I tried to edit "04" in FesPiaDefaultAdaptiveWorldMode, but it still won't work.

finally figure it out!

enable adaptive mode in HU_MGU set FES_ADAPTIVE to active

BCD_BODY3 change FesComfortWorldMode2, set custom value as 0A , this will enable the third option of comfort button to adaptive mode

Cool! Have you retrofitted the adaptive button or do you adjust this by the comfort switch?

What do we think this actually does?
