It may be a good thing that the i4 still runs the Atom chip.

Tesla model 3 with the new Ryzen CPU has just been WLTP rated in Australia. It looses 22km range due to the more power hungry chip

I'd be surprised if the 22km range difference is due to the Ryzen SoC primarily, most likely other changes to the car contributed more.

Quick napkin math:
The AMD V1807B used in the Model 3, has a TDP of 54W.
So, let's say the Model 3 with full battery can drive for 8 hours(which it probably can't at highway speeds), that's about 432Wh for the trip caused by the AMD chip(assuming the worst case CPU+GPU at 100% for the full duration).
432Wh is about 0.52% of the Model 3's 82kWh battery.
That's around 3.2km of range(WLTP) lost by the new AMD chip in the worst-case scenario(real-world impact will likely be less).

@Cable Guy just shared some info in another thread regarding the MGU:

I received the official answer from BMW today. Apparently, the i4 has the MGU and not MGU21. It has the SP18(service pack) with some parts from the SP21. Head Unit High 4 instead of 3, Telematic Communication Box 4 instead of 3 and the multifunctional display. So it's basically a 4 series ICE with those mentioned changes, therefore also no 5G availability.

Anybody who knows what this means in terms of CPU power in the i4 ?

Some other information regarding tech. Apparently, the i4 has the EYEQ4 like the 3 series instead of the EYEQ5 like the iX. Does anyone know hwat that means exactly in terms of future updates? I know that the EYEQ5 can have Level 3 driving. But how does it look with the EYEQ4?

I don’t know, but if one has an IQ of 4 and the other 5, they’re both pretty dumb.
