Has anybody with BMW Advanced Car Eye dash cam installed tried its recordings using the "DashCam Viewer" program? This program works great with my NextBase dash cam but is not listed as being compatible as per this viewer's FAQs.
I didn’t notice a battery drain due to ACE 3.0 Pro. But mention mine is in garage during nighttime, so i switch it off. I have never found an answer to the sensor level adjustment of the radar and g-force sensor (nowhere written if more sensitive is 5 or 1). I send a mail to the ace.3.0 service help desk as written in the manual, but to be honest nobody replied, so i put it to 3 too. What sensitive level you guy set the the sensors on parking mode? It came default at 4 for both shock and radar, it gets trigger like all the time so I lowered it to 3 but still the same... Wonder if I should lower it again. And anyone running them out of external battery? I feel like my range is affected a little since the external battery because the car has to recharge it every time after it's parked.
If you ever have issues with VLC crashing when opening a video, remember to turn off automatic hardware acceleration. I run into this at work all the time. Just open VLC itself without double clicking the video first to get to settings.I use VLC (from apple store) for my BMW ACE 3.0 Pro, front and rear camera. works fine…..

Hi... yes, the program is about 90% compatible with the BMW ACE 3.0 (Pro) - it currently doesn't show the rear camera but I think most of the rest of it works. I contacted the writer of the app and he is now working on a fix. The BMW ACE 3.0 DashCam is made by ThinkWare and works with their DeskTop app (PC and Mac). Thinkware no longer support the app but you can download it from PC / MAC Viewer - THINKWAREHas anybody with BMW Advanced Car Eye dash cam installed tried its recordings using the "DashCam Viewer" program? @J_PMake sure you tell them exactly where you want it fitted!
Mine was fitted before I got the car as I had ordered it 6 months ago (you know, when BMW first told me I would get the car 😌). The position was to low and too far to the left for my liking. Made it much more obtrusive than it needed to be. Being a bit OCD, I eventially moved it myself. It was a complete pain to get the sticky pad off off the windscreen (ordered a replacement 3m adhesive pad online) but I'm much happier with it now and it doesn't irritate every time I get in the car.
This is where they put it:

I haven't got a picture of the new position (and I'm not going out in this freezing weather) but I've marked in red where it is now (entirely within the 'dotted' area of the windscreen) about 1 cm from the rear view mirror housing. The 'dots' don't effect the camera because it hangs below the mounting and you need 1 cm space from the mirror housing so you can get a finger in to operate the camera release catch on the right.
I believe you can order a replacement pad but not sure from where, BMW?@J_P
Did you get a specific pad, or just smth which fits the size of the base?
Thanks, I am going to try the fishing line or dental floss after heating up the pad from the outside with a hairdryer hopefully making it softer and easier to remove.I believe you can order a replacement pad but not sure from where, BMW?
I got a double sided 10cm x 10cm 3M pad - 3M VHB Tape 5952, and cut it down. The base has a lip around it, so cut the pad slightly smaller to fit within the lip or it stops the pad sticking properly.
The existing pad is really hard to get off. I used a flat bladed screw driver and gradually prized it away but I wouldn't recommend that method. If I had to do it again, I would probably use the same method used to debadge a car and cut it off with some fishing line. You will also have to spend some time cleaning up the glue left on the pad. I used IPA as it is a good solvent but not aggressive and is electrically safe.
This one is made for dash cams: SanDisk 128GB High Endurance... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NY23WBGAre there any views on what the best microSD cards to use are? Having just had an issue with a Samsung Pro Endurance 128GB with my Nextbase 622GW (died after 6 months) and being told by Nextbase that they only warrant with their own (much more expensive) cards - they would wouldn’t they! - I want to get a 128GB card that doesn’t die every 5-6 months.
I use Sandisk with all my photo kit and they’re usually OK.
