The LCI headlights for the G2x 4-series and i4 was leaked on a german part site. If you prefer the old, stunning looking laser lights - run to your local BMW dealer and get a new car before 07/2024. Holy, this headlights looks like ****...

With all the interesting and artistic approaches other brands are taking to lighting, this is incredibly discouraging!

Means nothing to me without a car around them to see how it does (or does not) fit the lines and shape of the car.

I don’t think this is the case. These appear to be the upgraded ones with the blue accents.

I knew they wouldn’t be as nice as the current laser headlights. IMO, the 4 Series laser headlights are the best BMW made. Each headlight has 2 low beam projectors, 2 high beam reflectors, 1 high beam projector, and 1 cornering projector in addition to the DRLs, access lighting, etc. They’re truly stunning.

However, the laser functionality doesn’t impact most driving conditions, and the adaptive functionality is primitive. These new full matrix LEDs should do a better job at the anti dazzle stuff at the expense of slightly lower high beam perf.

I don’t know whether or not they turn with the wheel, but it would be really disappointing if they didn’t. It’s also disappointing to see a single project per headlight for the low beam. BMW has been doing double projector low beams for their upgraded headlights for a really long time.

Overall, they’re ok, but the i4 went from having the best headlights on the market to something just below mid tier :(

Gonna be honest: when I read this thread title, I was really confused. I thought it was saying that something leaked out of the headlights . Thank God the blinker fluid didn't leak out!

100% agree. You could easily identify a BMW at day and night time with their O/U/J/L-light design (a evolution). BMW has lost their identity with this random light design. i7, X7 and iX has one kind of a light design, the X5/X6 with one type, the G60 with another and this G2x 4er LCI with a new again. BMW has went from the company all wants to copy to be on of the copiers. And don´t forget about all the cost cutting savings. Its a sad time to be a BMW enthusiast.. :(

I thought that the reason for BMW dropping laser lights was that current generation matrix LED systems were at least as good, if not better so there was no longer any need for the laser part? And yes I have seen comments about environmental impact being less - though I’m not clear on what is better.

Yes, pretty much similar look with only a vertical line going sideways. But honestly, I’m not inclined to call these ugly, rather different. I have the i5 now after the RIP incident with the i4, and at least the grille on the i5 looks a bit more normal then the i4…so really it’s a trade off between “ugly grille” or “ugly lights”. 😊

Funny... I strongly prefer the grille (and headlights!) on my i4 to these. So, as with many things design, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Funny!

However, I also note how many other cars have similar grille size, just without the kidney underpinning, and yet the 4-series gets a lot of grief. Just don't get it.

Of course, coming from my 330, I thought the grille of the i4 would bug me. It took only a few days for me to decide I preferred it. Funny, that.

Me as well. The biggest issue about the G60 is the wierd looking headlighs and the short end sloping tail. The rear end (and rear side profile) is a disaster.

Yeah beavers ARE beautiful 😁

Well TBH, my initial comment would have been to put a big butt as a gif. (You know the way the grille has been referred to by many reviewers) But was afraid that the moderator wouldn’t be too happy about it, especially since he likes it too much it seems. 😉

No, in honesty, I don’t care about these things, as long as it drives great and quality is high, it’s all good. 😊

You know, from that view, it looks like a wannabe SUV... like it's growing from a sedan to a X series...

Well, we don't have the Enyaq here. Can't bash it. The closest we can get is Enya without the Q but no new albums lately i think

Can anyone kindly summarize for those of us who don’t want to watch a video? 🥹

The 4-series Coupe/Convertible LCI will go into production from 03/2024. Here is a leak that shows the new headlights..

Major downgrade from the lasers, but I LOVE the new DRL look. Very sleek

It's really no contest. The 4 Series laser headlights are one of the most intricate no-expenses-spared headlights on the market IMO. Just the sheer number of elements is pretty astonishing. I can see why BMW decided to make something cheaper, and yet probably still better for the majority of users (less range without lasers, but it'll probably have better matrix functionality)
