So I just called my local dealership here in Portland, (maybe my fellow PNW's can help me out), but they said my car doesn't have the option of upgrading to the LCI grill. He didn't rule it out completely, but it sounds like on the official side, it wouldn't fit.

They don't know what they are talking about. It's absolutely doable.

How is the license plate holder attached to the grille? I see no holes in the pictures.

There is an indentation on the genuine number plate holder that helps keep it in position , there are indents for the screws, from memory I think there are 4 screws two each side .Been a while since I fitted mine .

Yeah I got it done as you can see above. Dealership in Tacoma put it on for me.
