Let me wait until I hear more about compatibility with bmw.

It ptobably will, but I will wait to hear more.

But when you look at the page doesn't say BMW, anyway I sent them an email and we'll see what they say about compatibility and when they think one can use it.
I got (likely) the same email that OP received (presumably because I bought one of their Tesla to J1772 adapters before I understood what that meant). Since it invited anyone to reply with questions, I sent them this:

“It’s one thing to physically plug in, but another to have that plug authorized by the Tesla network. Do you offer assurance that this adapter will be accepted by the Tesla network and charging a non-Tesla authorized using this adapter? I have a BMW and would love to use your adapter; I just don’t want to buy a pig in a poke.”

We’ll see what marketing BS I receive in response…

I hope BMW will make retrofit kits for our cars..

Just got the email about pre ordering the new nacs to ccs supercharger adapter. Anyone going to get one? Says shipping January 2024.

Every time I drive by a Supercharger location it’s polluted with Teslas (maybe just a California problem?) but now a million other cars will be queuing up as well, no thanks.

Then if you join then with your adapter you will take two stalls since the cables are so short.

Feel the love!

Finally got a “response” to my inquiry about the Lectron adapter:

“We apologize for the late update. We actively engage with most automakers and internationally recognised labs (UL & ETL) to ensure the compatibility and reliability of the Lectron Vortex Plug.

It's important to note that Tesla does not offer guarantees for third-party compatibility. For the most up-to-date guidance on using non-Tesla charging adapters with their Superchargers, we recommend reaching out to Tesla directly.”

Note, I wasn’t asking if Tesla offers a guarantee. I was asking if Lectron would warrant its usability. Clearly, they’re unwilling to do so, prefering to have their customers take that risk and hope that Tesla will permit its use. As many of us surmised, there’s no good reason to give them $200 for the chance that this adapter will be authorized by Tesla, except perhaps hope.

Ya I got an even more obtuse response than you only saying it would be compatible with my car. So guess will just wait until it's released.

All of them here are empty. 30% max at peak fill rate.

Similar situation here in the northeast: the Superchargers I've driven by have been deserted (Palmer MA & Brattleboro VT), the Magic Docks I've charged at have been nearly deserted (Brewster NY & Enfield CT), and the Superchargers in the same parking lot as EA (Seabrook NH, West Lebanon NH, and some others in NJ & DE) have been only lightly used or, in one case (NJ), busy, yet less busy than the EA.

Depends how you look at it. From the perspective of a Tesla, yes, you'd end up blocking the stall for another charger. But if multiple non-Tesla EVs who have their charge ports on the other side were to pull up, they could all charge side by side 🤪

Agree, in theory, the number of blocked (for Tesla drivers) stalls is only one at the end of the line. That presumes the non-Tesla drivers at the station have the knowledge and disposition to behave so cooperatively. :) Based on what I read in some EA FB pages, I'm not hopeful. A couple of brands with agreements will soon (early 2024, I think) obtain access to the SC network beyond Magic Dock locations. It will be interesting to follow.

My limited review of Tesla pricing for non-Tesla EVs indicates Tesla charges a premium for their power. Anecdotal evidence is that some Tesla drivers use CCS networks (with an adapter) to obtain lower pricing, not just increase their opportunity. Although it will be nice to have more options when travelling, I see the SC network as an expensive, only when needed, backup. YMMV It will be an interesting world when we can price/location/convenience/amenity shop our "fuel" on the road.

These are supposed to ship this month. Anyone get a shipping notice yet?

It's January 19th. I ordered January 3rd. I used $10, 5% off discount plus $13.30 in tax. $203.29 total I haven't heard anything about shipping it yet. Been getting spammed daily by their emails, they keep offering me 5% off my next purchase. I have initialized a new Tesla account, so it will be ready when my adapter arrives. Who knows if there will be a new app or what? Just now got another email from Electron Hey, We noticed you were checking this item & we still have a limited supply in stock! Get 5% OFF when you use code 4R648BWD at checkout! Snatch it up before it sells out!

I would encourage people not to take the risk on an unapproved charger. We don't know if Tesla will officially allow Lectron chargers or not, and there's good reason to believe they won't. There is an incredible amount of energy flowing through these DCFC stations. You don't want to be in a position where you are liable for a melted charger connector not just on your car but on the charger itself, or heavens forbid a fire. Spend the extra dollars and get a supported adapter.

I pre-ordered October 21st, so I would hope that mine would get shipped before yours, Ricky.

I will be absolutely shocked if Lectron doesn't get whatever approvals are necessary. Their Tesla line-up is extensive, including a CCS to Tesla adapter which would have the same characteristics as those you mention in terms of power passing through them.

I couldn't find a page on the EA website on Tesla charging but evgo has this.

The only evgo approved adapter is the Tesla branded one. If you use something else you are violating the terms of service and could be liable for damages. I wouldn't risk that to save $100

Good thing we don't need a CCS to CCS adapter then, eh? EVGo are CCS and so are our i4s. You're ascribing problems where none exist yet.
