My wife got a Genesis gv60 in January - the Genesis app is fairly basic.

BMW's app is much better IMHO.

These are our 1st 2 'connected' cars, but I much prefer the BMW (it did work fine for me for the 1st 12 months) hopefully this glitch is now fixed.
Compared to the Tesla OS, I agree with @donpaluh
The software upgrade process is pretty bad too.

So there are quite a few of us (and more to come!) in the same boat. Importantly, the car gets charged! Hopefully BMW software engineers take note, and fix this ASAP.
Had a similar problem: car was not updating the state of charge to the app. Decided to troubleshoot it today. This morning it was working fine

My app is updating much better now as well.

I agree, we have two other ev's (Nissan and Audi) and as much as it feels inferior, the BMW app is better than both of those. And don't get me started on how bad the Audi infotainment is compared to BMW. Car play works best on the Nissan. I think that is because it is wired, not wireless. But BMW car play is better than Audi. The Audi can't even remember radio presets or nav favorites. it forgets them after a few days. (among many other glitches).

Fast Service today! Didn't have to wait 27 to 48 minutes for the bimmer to text the server. Just looked and it has already been updated in the app. Yaay

My app seems to be working ok today. I just started charging and the app is reporting it correcty. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve not noticed any issues with the ConnectedDrive. I’ve not had to charge mine though.

Wishful thinking that BMW software engineers will read this forum and rectify any bugs. You should report any issues directly in the My BMW app:
  • Lower right hand corner ‘person’ icon
  • App Feedback
  • Problem with the App
Thank you for that information.

A few days ago my car finally received 11/2023.73 which installed with no fanfare. Today after getting home and plugging my car in, a few hours later I noticed I had not received a notification from the app that my car had finished charging. I opened the app and it told me my car was still at 77% charge and not charging, which prompted me to check the car and see what was wrong. The car was plugged in and charged to 80% as expected.

I tried re-pairing my phone to the car and doing a full reboot of the car and the app still shows my car at 77% and unplugged. I have to assume that the software update has something to do with this, but I was wondering if anybody else had similar issues with their app? As a side note, other remote functionality works perfectly fine (e.g. climatization, lock/unlock, lights, cameras).
Same on my 2024 xdrive 40 in arizona. I rebooted the console with the 30 seconds of audio power button held down, and it came back and has worked since. (Of course, that might be coincidental because BMW servers might have been reset too.)

I had the same issue a few days ago but did full hard reset of iDrive seemed to have solved it. My SOC wasn’t updating prior to that and no remote function, horn, headlights, 360 view etc..

To do a hard reset press car start button 3 quick times without pressing brake car will be in diagnostic mode. Then hold down car volume button down until iDrive reboots 3 times.
I just rebooted the "ipad" dash on my 2024 xdrive 40, holding down the audio power button for 30 seconds, while the car is not moving, and it reboots.

Might be coincidence, but after 2 or 3 days of the same symptoms everyone mentions, and Spotify not connecting as well, it rebooted and has been normal since.

I don't actually see where folks find which software version of iDrive is running, btw.

We’re back baby. Finally the app is showing correct charging status. I’m still not installing the update yet.

Not working again.. Car is charging, but SOC not updating. Remote services aren't working either... Can't unlock or run climatisation. ☹
I did send the feedback via the app also
Update: working again this morning... Let's see if it keeps...

It’s in System Settings App on iDrive and go to Remote Software Upgrade. You can see the version in mybmw app also under tire pressure info.

i will display my pleasure in a few days if I can connect 10x in a row with the car.
it's been about 10 days since this post, and I believe the app has connected to the car everytime I've used it (not that often)... consider it fixed...

:D

Not sure if I should create a new thread, but my app shows the proper battery status, but my trips aren't being updated... Hopefully just a server issue on the back end... And I've lost the ability to automate my windows opening...

Have you done an update recently? Have you run Update Apps and Services? Have you rebooted?

Rebooted, everything's back... You'd think working in IT, that would be the first thing I tried... Lol

Spoke to soon, got my Traffic Camera and Connected store apps back. Automated Windows are back but my trips aren't updating in the Mybmw app... Sent feedback via the app to the developers...

I'm too lazy to walk into the garage to check the battery status on the dash, but I was able to get the car to honk it's horn while it was parked in the garage. After the honk, the app says the current update time and same battery status (76%). Before the honk camand, the vehicle had an update status of maybe 1-2 days old.

It's well established that vehicle status in the app is updated by demand/pull from the car. It will not push a status update after walking away from the car. Maybe newer cars will push, but not iDrive8.0/MY22
