It's well established that vehicle status in the app is updated by demand/pull from the car. It will not push a status update after walking away from the car. Maybe newer cars will push, but not iDrive8.0/MY22
Actually, my 2024 model (8.5) updates every time I lock the car. And yes, I tried to update multiple times in the app on different devices.

Lock from the app, or in person at the car?

Both fit what I just said.

I’m having the same problem this morning. The car is currently charging but the charge status is unavailable. I restarted my iPhone 13 to no avail. Anyone else having a problem today? I was wondering if it is a server issue with BMW? I will give it a day or so to see if it resolves.

Yes correct, server sucks. Last correct data/percentage/miles on the app was last evening/night after arriving home. California too.

I've got a fun one -- I just upgraded to a new iPhone 16 Pro and had a 'stuck' app before on my old phone (it said my car was plugged in, but it had a 71% SoC and absolutely was not charging), and now I'm greeted with two messages, post-upgrade.

And in the app itself:

I'm wondering if BMW's datacenter is on the Florida coast and took a pounding with Helene or what.

Anyone else have this problem when upgrading phones? I don't recall it happening the last upgrade cycle...

Same deal here. One week in with iPhone 16 Pro — MyBMW has been great after the phone-to-phone transfer. Used the app for both our BMWs without issue. Until today.

I’m at an EA stall charging right now…but the app isn’t updating. Still showing stats from yesterday & time shown is from 7am this morning. Started charging at 37%, so clearly backend is down.

Rebooted the phone/reset iDrive/etc. No change. The i4 itself is updating just fine. Gotta be on BMW’s end.

I’ve been having similar issues with MyBMW app the past few days, thankfully didn’t need to charge, but that was a nightmare. Also thankful that the car itself seems to be working fine, but nothing is updating in the app, which is frustrating.

How do we get BMW to take action? I called BMW assist and they were pretty useless, wouldn’t create a ticket.

Both of us aren't getting updates to our app today either. With such widespread reports I'm not even going to bother with resets and such. It's clearly an issue on BMW's side.

My app is still stuck showing the vehicle status as of 09/21/24. I charged to 80% and drove since then, with no trips logged, or updates to vehicle status.

I submitted a comment through the app feedback (last icon on the bottom right -> App Feedback), although it says afterwards to contact customer service if there is an issue.

Still down. But sending an address/destination to the car/navi works.

Any idea how long something like this takes to fix? Thankfully my charging initiation for EA through the MyBMW still appears to be online.

Thanks for letting me know how to submit the problem through the app! Hopefully they’ll resolve this soon.

Still showing my status from Thursday morning.. It's usually fixed faster than this...

Thankfully it still charged last night.

BMW has said they were affected by the hurricane. Saw this message when trying to make a payment online.
That's good info to know ...

But honestly, I'm kind of surprised that BMW doesn't have a redundant failover in another location for a service they're charging customers to use.
