"My BMW" will not "Update" any Settings

Background:
1.) I almost always have my "Charging Target" set to 80%. On only a couple of occasions (2 in 10 months) I've set it to 100% just prior to a day with a lot of miles. I did this once using the Instrument Cluster and once using the "My BMW" app on my iPhone. Using the Car's Instrument Cluster still works just fine.
2.) The "My BMW" App shows the current status/data information correctly. I'm assuming there must be a data push function: from the car to BMW's Server and from the BMW Server to my iPhone that is working. So "some" communications are taking place, but it seems to be a one way street.
.
Question: After the most recent OTA Update, the "My BMW" App will no longer allow me to do any "Updates" nor will it respond to any requested changes. Ex: Door Locks, Lights, Horn, etc. As for changing (or attempting to change) the "Charging Target", after about a minute or two I get the message: "Something went wrong. We could not complete your request. Please try again," with "CANCEL" or "RETRY" buttons. Any other changes I try to make using the "My BMW" App meet with similar messages and no action taken.
.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I'm missing?

FWIW We also have an X5 xDrive 45e (Hybrid) and the "My BMW" App works just fine. The car's data is correct and I can make requests for changes and the system responds correctly. Ex: Door Lock, Lights, Horn, Remote Camera, etc. all work just fine using the "My BMW" App.

I found that MyBMW 3.11.2 was very unstable and regularly stopped me communicating with the car. The current IOS version is 3.11.3 (29541) and (so far) is much better.

Did this start after the 07/2023.53 OTA?

First, gave you tried the diagnostics reset?
1. Triple-push the Start button
2. Hold down the Vol button for 3 reboots of the main screen

Second, you can try removing the car from the app and adding it again.

Lastly, there is a possibility you have a faulty telematics unit: https://www.i4talk.com/threads/telematics-ecu-failure-and-the-tsara-case.10736/

I'm betting the iDrive reset will fix this.

To be precise about this for other readers, holding the volume button down resets iDrive, not just the display, and there are multiple versions:
  1. Press and hold the Vol knob until the console screen turns black and reboots. This is a basic reset.
  2. Press and hold the Vol knob until the console screen turns black and reboots a total of 3 times. This is a harder reset.
  3. Get into the car and press the Start button 3 times (don't press the brake) then press and hold the Vol knob for 3 reboots.
Start with the first. That is likely to fix this problem. If it doesn't, try the second. I'm not sure if you'll need the third, since that's usually for multiple issues according to @niam.

Note that BMW changed something on their servers recently (at about the time of the 3.11.2 release). It seems they lowered the number of API calls allowed per $time and maybe also the length of the validity of the authentication token. This was very visible in home assistant if you have the BMW integration (BMW Integration: ReAuthentication required almost every day · Issue #104555 · home-assistant/core). The folks in home assistant had to do some changes in the code to cope with that. I noticed that the app had frequent issues after that update.

But, obviously, as others mentionned, a reboot of either the vehicle or the phone might solve the issue you have.

Not sure why, but yesterday I lost the ability to perform any remote services through the app. It still showed the car, but no updating of status and no preconditioning (which is everything in the winter!). I would get the “Cancel / Retry” pop-up. Tried rebooting idrive and rebooting the phone without success. But then did a full log out and reinstall of the app and that did the trick. So, not sure which really fixed it, but adding it to the list of possible tricks for others.
