Unless they changed it for 2024 i4 does not have the proper interior camera to do this. I know the new X1 has an interior camera that allows this function. In other words, not available in all models.

 

It's working on my 2024 i4. Obviously unlike our iX1, it's exterior view only. It does get confused with the alert saying the 3D remote alert was for the iX1, but it was actually from the i4 (100% confirmed) and visible in the car graphic.

First alert is i4, Second iX1:

When you open, you get a still of the front camera

When you open it, you can rotate around the 3D view

What prompted the alert? Was it just someone walking by or did the alarm actually get triggered?

If the car's alarm is triggered, will the MyBMW App give a notification of any sort?

Hi, I have a I4 eDrive 40 M Sport 2024. BMW App 4.5.4 Android. Car equipped with Alarm System, Parking Assistant Professional and Remote 3D Exterior Camera (Drive Recorder). When the alarm is triggered, no notification on the App. Please help. The BMW dealer mention that he can not do anything about it!

 

No help for you here either. It's not an included function.

Not saying that it makes sense, but it's not "broken" so much as badly programmed.

 

It just didn't like my parking spot! I was at costco again yesterday lol (picking up new eyeglasses). The parking spot wasn't level. Entire left side of the car was lower by maybe 10 or 15 degrees. Maybe the car couldn't sit still and kept fidgeting lol.

 

I'd be upset if the car would send so many false alerts. I mean, the results would be that the messages are blocked because I couldn't stand reading and trying to figure out is it is real or not.

 

I left someone in the car and the car locked when I walked away. They moved and set off the interior motion sensor but there was no notification on my app. Is this a feature you have to enable?

 

I don't remember having to enable it. Few weeks/month ago they gave us this new feature. But we need to allow all the notifications/alarm/location/etc items for the app.

To test the alarm, roll down the front door window by maybe 3 or 4 inches. Lock/arm the car. Wait maybe half a minute, and stick your arm inside the window and wave it (probably towards the center mirror's area(?)). Hopefully the alarm sounds.

 

I get other notifications from the app, just not the alarm.

 

I just had software update 11/2024.65 installed by the dealer and I now get a push notification when the car's alarm is triggered.

I had to accept some privacy setting in the car (forgot to make a photo) and then it worked. I tested it with the window opening trick mentioned above.

No photos from the car's camera though, and I do have PAP, car is from October 2023.

 

Hello, finally after more than more year the BMW IT guys were successful to add this basic notification in the app. But indeed the Drive Recorder doesn’t record anything… Let’s wait for an extra year…for a new update

 

What do you mean by "the Drive Recorder doesn't record anything"? Mine does record and works as described, though never had a crash so I don't know how well it works in that situation.

Come on people, this is about the the car alarm report, not the effectiveness of the inbuilt drive recorder 😜

 

Strangely enough, that was the only times I received the alerts (nothing else lately).
