My 2024 i4 M50 is at the dealer (for the Plug & Charge upgrade) and they gave me a brand new 2025 i4 xDrive40 as a loaner. It has a 2-spoke steering wheel that I had not seen before:

I do greatly prefer 2-spoke steering wheels to 3-spoke. Is this something I could swap out in my 2024? Would I have to lose the steering wheel heating button (and therefore the heating) to do so?

Until the HU_MGU is “cracked” I don’t think that coding will be possible for MY24 cars and newer…. That said, if there is a new option code linked to that feature, you could change your VO with said option code and then wait for an OTA update (or dealer update) to make the needed changes in the HU_MGU…..

Frankly, Im not impressed by steering wheels. Here' my wife's Nissan 2-spoke wheel:

I really don't like the look of it, and would prefer to have a physical button for the steering wheel heater, but I guess by the time I'll buy a new car I just have to accept the fact that more and more brand "invents the wheel" once again, and make it squarish. The wheel was one reason I wasn't even interested in test driving an Audi. I looked at the car and asked the dealer about the wheel, and he said that the steering wheel was not an option, they have the square "wheel" on all cars... so I just left.

Anyway, this new "wheel" is the worst I have seen. That bump would really bother me and I don't get the point in it, so perhaps my next car will be something else if they keep this "wheel" or don't offer any options.
